30 DVD rentals for $20

my friend called me up and said that Blockbuster was having a deal similar to netflix where you can rent up to 30 movies a month for 30 days, and pay 20 a month. this is simliar to netflix, but i went and checked blockbuster's site and couldnt find anything.

im going to call them tomorrow, if you have any mroe info, let me know.

Yeah, this "deal" is well known. Blockbuster has been sending out fliers about it left and right. I suppose if you are bed-ridden or NEVER leave the house, then this is a GREAT deal... 30 days, 30 DVD rentals, $19.95. Great price. HOWEVER... If you DO have a life, and don't have time to watch 30 DVD's in 30 days, then this deal kinda blows. IMHO.

Well, as long as you rent more than 5 in a month you'll be saving money. Probably don't get to keep them as long as you want like you do off the web place though.

not sure if it's the same but are you sure the movies don't have to be on their "favorites" list? i remember vaguely seeing a poster about that and then i noticed that the videos had to be on their "favorites" list or something and so i didn't read on.

Let me add something. You can only rent 1 video per day. So 30 days = 30 videos. If you miss a day, you miss out. You can also rent new releases too.

I am not sure if this is a better deal or not but MovieGallery stores have a promotional 2001 calender for $1.99. My local store still has a bunch.

Anyway each calander contains a bunch of coupons (B2G1 DVDs) ... one coupon is you get a free rental every month for a year. However ... Here is the cool (Don't be to greedy) part ... There is only a one free dvd/movie per visit stipulation ... so I bought 5.

Thats 60 rentals (5 per month) for $10 bucks !!!!! They rent DVDs too. Or 120 rentals for 20 bucks. (Might be pushing it)

Well, just went to Blockbuster tonight, and saw a huge poster for it, didn't really bother to really check it out though. If you get to rent the 30 all at once, that would be great, but making trips to BB every freaking day? Forget that ish!

look guys, a rental is $3.50 so if you rent 6 movies, you'll pay $21, that's more than the $19.99 where you will get 5 times that amount. sheesh!

Reminds me of when I worked at costco back in the day, they'd come with one case of corona, we'd say "that comes in a package of 2, would you like us to get you another one?" they'd say no, what the heck? they could get 2 for what they were willing to pay for one.

The big difference between this deal and Netflix is that the selection at BB is awful compared to netflix which has thousands of DVD's available.

Saw a similar posting at Blockbuster yesterday. Who has time to watch 30 movies in 30 days? Seems like a good deal but if you only watch 10 of them (about 2 per weekend) does it really come out much better than renting individually?

If I can't watch a movie in my rental period, I dump it over to my Replay. While even at high quality, it is not DVD quality, it beats paying another $4 to watch a movie. Now that the Replay's been hacked, I've got a 60 hour drive in my old 20 hour unit, and have an 80 gig on order for drive 2!

thats the exact thing.

i wish BB had all the DVD's as netflix, because its only 5-10 mins away from my house. the problem with netflix is it takes about 4 days for me to get the movie after they ship it out.
