I wish you luck with the Lexmark printer. Sounds like a good price, but I found out the hard way last year about that saying if it sounds too good to be true.... I bought 2 new Lexmark Z34 because of a good deal. Both had feeder problems - one ripped the paper as it fed thru (crooked at that!) and the other literally spit out a screw the first time I turned it on and ran a test! Lexmark was great about replacing them. Sent me two straight from the factory... neither of those was any beter so I called again! They sent out 2 more without argument - which tells me they know they aren't quite ready for primetime on these yet. Anyway, new problems with those. One still couldn't feed the paper straight and the other would not print red ink no matter how many new color cartridges I put in! :|

By now I'm sure you're thinking, "this lady must be jinxed!" Well I finally did the smart thing and listened to my husband for a change and we bought an Epson C80 and a photo 820 that work just beautifully. We've always bought Epson in the past and never had problems so I guess I should have listened to him after the first two Lexmarks instead of driving us both nuts. Anyway, I'm sticking wwith Epson inkjet printers even if the other companies start giving away free printers because it just isn't worth the time and effort involved in messing with the others. Epson always works right out of the box!

need a replacement to print cheap text, lexmark is made by ibm so they don't really care about selling printer as long as they profit from the ink

You must have got a bad batch. I've found Lexmark printers to be amomg the most reliable and problem free printers I've used so far besides maybe HP. I have a Z11 and a Z53 right now and both work flawlessly.

I hate lexmark printers. I have a z52 and the cartridges have always clogged way to early and creating lines on the printouts, needing replacement. I bought an HP 1115 and thank god, the thing is serious professional quality! Its rocks and I spit on lexmark!

I've had nothing but problems with Lexmark printers. I've been using them since I was in high school in the mid 90's and they've never held up well. Things only got worse when they introduced their Z series. Instead of breaking down after a year or two, the Z printers started breaking down within a year. I spent the extra dollars and got an Epson. It's lasted me more more than a year now . Of course, that's just one user's experience with Lexmark...someone else might feel the exact opposite I do!

Actually its probably a different model number because they make different models for wholesale clubs then retailers sometimes so they cant price match. Also the cartridges are not any higher than the hp.
Reason being is like hp every time you change the cantridge you are changing the print head where as with epson or canon you are just doing the ink refill. To get great quality with this lexmark you need to use good paper or for pictures a glossy paper. I think this is an awesome deal.

Damn you dr_wily for almost costing me a hot deal. Went to Costco today and bought this printer for $49.99 + got a $20 rebate on the receipt. Thank you idcandy for this $29.99 deal.

i apologize people.. i went to the store to just buy it for 50$ and they actually print out a reciept with rebate information on it.

the reason i deduced that was because if you read the rebate form online it said print out a copy of your email reciept and it was only talking about online purchases.. didnt think you could use that form if you bought it at the store, which you probably couldnt anyways.

Lexmark = sux-mark :|

They are lousy printers, bad color, speed and quality. I know this is a for use as a "budget" printer, but if its more trouble than it is worth, no thanks.

Ok, where else can I get, right now, a factory sealed $29.99 brand new printer from a reputable dealer, that I can easily refill with a simple syringe and affordable ink, where, huh? + This printer comes with a USB cable -- it's a blazing fast USB model, no need for printer cable. I mean this thing can print 15 ppm, so how's about you put your keyboard where your mouth is and tell me what can you get me for my $29.99 right now Shagger than can compare, what?

ok guys watch out - the printer i picked up yesterday didnt have the usb cable inside.

im taking it back to costco after work today to get it swapped...or @ least get the usb cable.

just a heads up in case you havent checked the box yet.

also the b/w cartridge that came with the Z54 works with my old Lexmark 3200 - but the color cartridge doesnt.

For the record: my experience with my Lexmark printer has been very good. Cartridges are expy but then there's always fleabay waiting for you with ink syringes...

Thanks for the heads up, maverick24. (Mine was right on top, separately packed from the manual and driver CD.)
Ditto on the cartridges though. I had a Lexmark 5700. Same 1970 black cartridge but Z54 uses 15M0120 instead of 1980 color cardtridge. Apparently 15M0120 is high resolution cartridge because this printer is better than the ones we used to have.

i personally love this printer.. soo fast, comes with real ink carts (as opposed to the cheap "starter" carts that epson has)
not too bad looking and doesnt take up much space.. and ghetto cheap!

Unfortunately, in a few months you'll see what a pain Epson printers are.... they clog up like no other printers if you don't use the printer just about everyday.

Don't get your panties in a bunch c627627! When you buy tools whats the rule of thumb? "You get what you pay for" What does that mean kiddies? It means that if you have to pay a little more to get a quality product then you should do that. I love a hotdeal same as everyone else, but I have had bad experiences in the past with more Lexmark printers than I have had with HP or Epson. Maybe the 'Z' series has turned all that around for them and their quality woes are a thing of the past. I doubt it...but hey that's just my opinion, check out the reviews of these Lexmark printers and see what they say. MY experience has been that Lexmark printers are not worth the trouble.

Yeah I know, it's like, when I threadcrap it's OK, but when others do it, I get, what? panties...? Anyway, I've had a lot of problems with my Lexmark too, but they were good about replacing them, so since it was one of those cheapo deals for a secondary printer that was worth at least twice the price..., but still, no excuse , will be careful not to attack in the future.
