People that travel 1~2 hours on the off chance that a PS2 will be in stock are gamblers.

I don't know which is worse. Whining losing gamblers or whining socialists. It ain't food folks. It's a video game player. Besides, just think how many hundreds of PS2s Virgin Megastore bought. Is anyone complaining about their greed ? Noooo. It's not as if these things will not reach end users. They all will.

Just back from Burbank. Bought a ps2! No xboxes though...no biggie.

They claimed they have nearly 200 PS2s in the back....as of 10:30 AM.

Bearauto; my recommendation is to drive the extra 10 miles to the Virgin store at the Block in Orange. I kept checking both the Costa Mesa and Orange stores, and so far CM hasnt had a single console available. However, I've picked up three PS2's on two separate occasions at the Orange store (they had a shipment in as of Thurs night).

Good luck.

Maybe i should start selling them on here for cost + 15 for shipping. Hmmm.

Oh, and Wasssup, i incorrectly read and said those remarks to you, instead of "wazzzzzzup". I got them mixed up, sorry. Check yer PM.

<< Oh yeah, you gotta buy a package (2 games and a controller), so don't expect any 210 dollar XBoxes >>

does that mean the psx2 must be bought in packages also?

else the psx2 would be like $210 a piece

I find it curious that the people who criticize Bang4DaBuc can't spell and apparently can't reason either...

For all those people who are complaining about having to drive 1-2 hrs to get to a Virgin and find out that they're out of stock. Why would you do that? Go to your local electronics store and buy it for $299.99 like the rest of the people who don't live by a Virgin. Its not our fault there's no Virgin by your house, nor is it our fault you chose to live so far from a Virgin. I live 20 mins from 3 Virgin stores. Call me lucky. But just like all those people who complain that there's no Fry's next to them, too bad. $hit happens. Go find another deal, maybe the Buy.com one. Don't bitch about how you drove all day and couldn't get any. Its your bad for getting in your cars thinking you could.

well i probably won't post in this thread because i'm just tired of it, but keyzersoze - I don't think you're understanding the argument. the argument is that people shouldn't be allowed to buy 20 consoles in one trip with the discount, there SHOULD be a set limit.

I hear that Virgin is enforcing limits in some of their stores, but thats really up to them. I don't really think they care how many people buy. They're making mad money off sales of these units. As far as they're concerned, as long as they keep selling, they have no reason to put any type of limit on it. BTW, someone who walks out with about 20 units is almost done anyway. AMEX puts a $5000 limit on the 30% off.

Does american express limit the discount or does virgin limit it? If I were to exceed $5000 in purchases, and Virgin let me buy it, am I going to get charged for the full amount later by american express? I spoke to Virgin and they said AMEX is suppose to limit the purchase, but then I called AMEX and they said Virgin was suppose to monitor it. AMEX said if Virgin lets you purchase over $5000, then that's their fault, but they are suppose to limit you at the store.

However, that doesn't make sense, because, how would the workers there know how much one cardmember spent in the WHOLE promotional period? I don't think that's possible.

So... the question again is, if I purchased over $5000, would Virgin or AMEX bill me for any amount saved over the limit? Or am I ok, since they already gave me the discount?

Does anyone know?

Why don't you find out by trying to exceed that $5000 limit?
Seriously, if you are exceeding that limit, when they impose one, you are risking it. So, how many consoles do you have to resell to satisfy your greed?

Sendtrash : Xboxes come from MS in a bundle, therefore you have to buy the bundle. VM get's PS2's from Sony in cases of 3, so you can buy individual consoles.

wassup: virgin orlando had a limit of 3 per person, until they got 120 of them

Today I went to The Block at Orange to buy a ps2 controller and a game,
I'm disappointed that they calculated the discount at before the tax, and charged $0.01 for the coupon book.
(Last 3 times I bought at Hollywood, Burbank, Ontario Mills, they all calculated the discount at after the tax, and didn't charge for the coupon book.)
I told them last time it's not charged that way, they said I was lucky last time because of the other stores messed up.

Did you guys get charged like that way now too?

I was given the discount before tax at the Anaheim store, but after tax at the Costa Mesa store. BTW, picked up 3 XBOXes today and a couple PS2s. 1 XBOX at the CM store and 2 at the Anaheim store. I simply called the CM store and they said they had the XBOX in stock, so I headed over there and picked the last one up. They had a bunch of PS2s there so I picked up 2. Then on the way home I thought I'd call the Anaheim store. They had the XBOX there too, so I stopped by and my gf and I each picked one up. They had a bunch of PS2s there too. I don't even understand what all the whiners are b!tching about. Do a lil work and you might get what you want. Thats the general idea in life.

That's The Block at Orange.
So it's either this store doesn't follow the rule or all other 4 SoCal stores don't?

This store has plenty of ps2 controller and memory card, but no dvd remote, only 1 Logitech wheel left, more ps2 games than the other 3 stores I've visited.

Umm...for everyone complaining about the discount being before tax, it is the same either way! If they take the discount out, then calculate tax, the tax is based on a 30% smaller amount, thus less tax. For example:

300*.7=210*1.08(8% tax here) = $226.8 out the door.
or
300*1.08=324*.7=$226.8 out the door.

Or did they add the full tax amount on? If that is the case, that is not legal. They are charging a higher percentage tax than the law states. If you talk to a manager and explain it to them, they should understand. They have to charge tax based on the total sale, not the value of the item.

Here's the fine print from http://www.virginmega.com/default.asp?p=47&vmseid=362:
"Savings limited to a maximum of $5,000 in merchandise per Cardmember for the promotion period. Purchases in excess of $5,000 maximum limit are not eligible for 30% savings. Visit a participating Virgin Megastore for details. "

This would seem to indicate that Amex is tracking the total spent at the Virgin Megastore. So if you bought 20 PS2s (either at once or over the duration of the promotion) which is 20 X $300 = $6000, you'd have to pay Amex back $300 (the discount received on the $1000 over the limit).

I think some of the really greedy ones are going to get a surprise in their next Amex bill.

tr0ll, if you purchase something over your 5000, they'll authorize it (amex blue im guessing) and you'll get charged $29 for overlimit fee

virgin doesnt know how much you have on your card, nor do they care, they just want you to stick the card in and then swipe it

how many'd you buy you bastard?!?!
