Selling off my Galaxy S2 for 250 and I can put in about another 150. Ofcourse the nexus 4 is within reach, but should I look for used and buy something else? What will I notice in difference between nexus 4 and S2? Im using stock ICS on S2. Will there be a decent change?

Or should I go Iphone 4?

The best phone within your budget is without a doubt the Nexus 4. The only phone that's generally considered better than the N4 is the Note 2, but you need to be ok with the size, it's twice the price and it's not actually any faster. If you like the apple side of the fence, you COULD go iPhone5, but nobody will suggest going for anything older than that. 3.5" is just too small today, and many people argue that Apple should have gone even bigger with the 5. If you feel like waiting, the SGS4, and HTC One are both looking awesome (especially the camera on the One) but they'll both likely be $650+ at launch.

anyone know how much a note 2 goes for nowadays? (possibly used). Ill be upgrading from a galaxy nexus, so i want a somewhat substantial upgrade if i do decide to. How does the n4 compare to the gnex? Ive noticed that my gnex gets bogged down sometimes, and my battery has pretty much gone to shit.

Also - what came of the overheating/underclocking issues with the nexus 4? I dont rememeber exactly what the problem was, but i remember something along the lines of the cooling being kind of messed up on this phone, so even compared to the LG Optimus, it didnt perform as well.

i went from a gnex to an N4, night and day difference. it does run into throttling issues during heavy benchmarking, but never during day to day use or even gaming. you can also use custom kernels to increase the thermal threshold if you want to.

The N4 just steamrolls over the GNex.

As long as you don't need the removable battery you should really just shift to the N4. I'm not sure a used Note II would be in the price range, but if you look hard enough you may find one. An SGS3 should be though.

I don't think I'd upgrade from a good condition S2 unless there was a really good reason...

as someone who came from an S2, it's a night and day difference. I'd say there's a good reason. I went back to my S2 for 2 weeks while my N4 was under RMA and believe me I wanted to go back ASAP.

The speed of the N4 is just amazing.

Nexus 4 is a smart choice, not doubt it has awesome hardware and the best thing is that whenever a new version of Android is released it is out for Nexus phone first.

I had a galaxy nexus and just got my nexus 4. I'm not a phone expert and mostly use it for calls/text/emails/light browsing, no games etc. It's smoother but for these tasks I couldn't tell much difference. I did try a remote desktop software and the nexus 4 was so much faster.

You guys are gonna cost me money

I used a friends S2 and it seemed just as nice as my Rezound, which i guess is crappier than i thought compared to new phones!

You can find some good deals on Note 2. I have picked up 3 of Craigslist over the past 2 months for around $450. You could easily find a great condition GS3 in the sub $350 range, It is still an incredible phone.
