Of course that's just my opinion but I really can't remember seeing many movies with worse dialogue or scripts. Yes yes I know it's an action movie that's supposed to entertain not make you think but it's still really really bad. Special effects were good I'll give it that, but Sin City looked much better and was a better movie all around.

The problem is that the movie actually relied on it's plot and dialogue to string you along while the special effects were just used to make it more surreal and 'cool' looking. If they had made the special effects the actual centrepiece of the film and did away with the narration it might have been better. For example if they had gone even further with the effects and made it look like a moving painting or made it REALLY surreal to the point of one loosing sense of reality. In some ways what makes it bad is that it's actually to conventional a movie in terms of relying on a B level script and dialogue to get you through the film.

I didn't like the dialoge or script much either, but the movie is a fvcking masterpiece from the art and special effects alone.

Yeah, it sucked. People are going to post that you shouldn't have expected a good movie, blah blah blah. Well it's low expectations for specific genres that lets art decline. Why do you think mainstream music sucks?

So you've started a thread intentionally trying to flame. Nice one.

Umm no not at all I'm just expressing my opinion of a movie that has been so highly hyped. Personally I was disappointed by how horrible the movie turned out to be. I'm sure many will disagree strongly and expect some to flame. But that's not the point of the post.

The dialogue wasn't great but it had some good humour in there.

What were you expecting, Shakespeare? The movie is about 300 guys who go and do some major ass kicking. They weren't philosophers, so really how much dialogue could you expect?

Then why ask people to flame away?

Even if that did excuse the lack of depth and story, I have no idea what you were talking about. How do you figure that it was an art and special effects masterpiece?

From the previews I've seen, I'm halfway expecting something like 13th warrior. I've heard some people who have gone to see it say it was really good. Of course, these people work at Wally World, so my expectations are a little low as of right now. I should be thoroughly entertained since my expectations are low.

I saw the movie for the second time tonight. I like the narration personally. To each their own. I don't really see the point in making this thread.

How about ANY of the Star Wars movies just for starters... I defy you to find a movie with dialog worse than any of them.

It's a movie based on a comic book and Frank Miller had his hands all over it. Much like Sin City, the director didn't change a whole lot, so you get that cheese feel since comic book writing is, well, cheesy. I liked it, it wasn't anything spectacular, but it was a hell of a lot better than most of the garbage that's been out lately.
