I ordered one of those a couple days ago.

Use a crap email address when you make your tomtop account, and sign up for the email newsletter when you do. You'll get 70 "tomtop" points, which you can use on the flashlight to knock another 0.70 off. I paid $5.92 shipped.

I got one of these from Meritline last year. Excellent little flashlight that used one single AA battery. The adjustable focus is awesome.

What's with the " 1 * 14500 3.6v Battery (no included) ?

Undoubtedly the flashlight is _much_ brighter when used with the higher voltage 14500 than the lower voltage AA (likely at the expense of run-time). There is, however, some concern that a flashlight (especially a cheap one) that can run off either 1 AA or 1 14500 is being overdriven by a 14500 and this will shorten the LED or driver's life, possibly substantially.

Anyone buy from this place before? I've never heard of it.

Me neither. Amazon has it listed as well, but they don't sell it (it's available from "FordEX Group," which I've never heard of and also ships from China like Tomtop), and they're charging $13.55 shipped. Can't find it anywhere else online, so I'll probably take my chances at Tomtop.

What the hell, I rolled the dice and bought 3. With the coupon and 70 pts it was $19.17. That's a great deal for Cree's. I actually have one of these already and love it....been looking to buy some more so this was perfect.

Thanks OP!

Comments on other sites generally favor the flashlight, but last few months some complaints about slow or no delivery. Payment is via PayPal so it gets sticky after 40 days or so.

This is one of those hot deals that looks like if its still hot, delivery issues get resolved, that the deal will continue for a long long time.

If you don't actually need a new flashlight I would say skip it. If you want the max brightness (still like much less than claimed) you need to pop for 1450 batteries and a charger (they are 3.6v lithium in roughly the same size shape as a AA 1.5v battery and need special chargers).

That doesn't sound very reassuring...
Do they deliver a year after you order? 6 months? 3 months? 1 month?

Free shipping takes 2-3 weeks.

That's been my experience with most of the other Hong Kong sellers on ebay or stores like tom top too.

It's not really slow processing on their part, just the shipping method that they choose is very slow, but hey its free shipping...

I am in. Bought 2 of them
I bought a combo on ebay that included 2 batteries and the charger for $6.25 and 2 more batteries for $3.50

What does 'protected' mean on the batteries?

don't exploit deals.

How is that exploiting a deal? If you want, sign up for the newsletter with your real email. I just prefer to avoid giving my primary email address to random companies in China if I can avoid it.

Special nuclear batteries perhaps?

If you buy batteries, defintiey buy 5 or more to get the bulk discount down to six dollars and some change.

Dealextreme.com has it for $9.20 shipped (SKU 39585). Meritline has it on sale fairly often in either the black or silver model for as low as $8 shipped. Both ship from China so it takes awhile.

This is a great little light with a AA but not as bright as with a 14500 battery. If the merchant can be trusted it's a steal at $6.62.

Note: If you're not going to spring for the battery upgrade, you may want to consider something similar that uses 3 AAAs instead of a single AA for the additional brightness.
