I also bought one today and the power supply is horizontal, not vertical, and there are holes already drilled for mounting a rear fan. Don't know what case the other two people are talking about, but it sure isn't this one.

I checked this case out today. It's pretty cheap and I'm not sure it's even worth $35. The one I saw had a CompUSA branded 300W PSU. Looks like the same PSU they are selling for $20. Can't tell who really makes the PSU to verify on AMD website. I wouldn't buy this unless you're into cheap cases and power supplies.

I bought one of these cases today and mine has a horizontal power supply with places for both front and rear fans. I think it's OK for $35 since I didn't have to pay $10-$15 for shipping. It has a one year warranty so if I were to have any problems, I will be able take it back to a local CompUSA store and not pay to ship it back to somewhere else.

I am going to put my Computer Geeks refurbished HP Celery 733MHz in this case since the case Computer Geeks used only has one 5-1/4 bay.

There are 2 cases that are very similar and at the same $59 origional price so it might depend on which store got what stock as far as availability. The faceplates are similar in design. The one I got has 4 5 1/4 slots, the horozontal PS, and fan grill on the back near the cpu. The other has 3 5 1/4 slots and a vertical PS that may get in the way of some heatsinks. Cheap? Sure, but fine for a P3 or a mid sized AMD. There's no way to really say that this PS is more prone to failure than any other PS since they rotate suppliers.

The $19 PS is fairly heavy which is a good thing. I'll open mine up to look for any wire shunts where coils should be and report back. That's the first sign of a cheap one.

is this really a good price? I picked up a 300w case at the local shop where I get my cases and have
my friends get theirs, never had a problem with 'em and paid $35 plus tax, today. Aren't no name cases this
price everywhere?

Why did you East coast people take so long to post hehe. I went down to CrapUSA to buy one of these and the case looked pretty flimsy, but I was just in it for the PSU cuz a friend needed one ASAP. I got back only to read that they die quickly. Seeing that the 5V lines are only 20A is also suck. The wires look cheap too compared to my Powerman 300W PS which is an average PS.

To cinch this deal the case is pretty flimsy and has cheap side panels. Most decent cases should be able to be moved without having the panels fall out (when w/o screws) and this thing just drops both panels. It's also that cheap shiny warehouse metal, not nice and polished. At least the edges aren't sharp.

Now I have to return this junk. Fortunately in SoCal you can get much better cases locally for just $5 more (if the stores are open).

*Rant Off*

Looks like these CompUSA cases are OEM'ed by Asound. The kind of hardware sold by all the cheap vendors at a Computer show.

Follow the link here then scroll down on the products page to find the CompUSA case link. Even shows the sku numbers.

That would explain alot about the quality issues......

I don't know about the case, but their 300watt power supply for $19 is a really good deal, one of my friends got one like a month ago for $39 and it's doing great. it's pretty much the same as the enlight 300watt power supply. but with the fan senor.

I also like the power supply. The one I had before was a 250 and very loud. The one weird thing is there is no i|o, ie off/on button. The thing also took a few tries to get it working (or else maybe I was tripping and did get the stupid ATX power connector in tight enough).seems like and improvement and there are so many connectors, *woohoo expansion*...

There were three different cases to choose from at my CompUSA. All were very similar and all had the CompUSA (FMI) power supply.

Dridecker,

You are definately on target with the Asound link. Cabinet matches exactly, however my power supply does not match up with any of the power supplies they show.

As far as I knew, the power supplies were made by fujitsu(fujitsu mechanical inc, FMI).

I contacted Asound by email, asking if any of their power supplies were recommended by AMD. I will post any reply they give.

We went to the Monrovia store and they were sold out bt the Anahiem store had 3 left. But when we got there, they were gone. The CUSA guy was nice enough to give us the 250W case for the same price($35) and 300W PS for $0.01. Great service. They sold the demo model for $15 to someone who got there before us. I am surprised that both the CompUSA and Fry's in Anahiem have so much better customer service than the other Southern California locations.

Ditto to some of the previous posters who experienced failed units--mine managed to last about six hours before it went to that great PSU Paradise in the sky.
