update 5/22

Sold my old LBBLE 0516 to friend.. That did 2.65 Prime Cert. (295x9) (DDR 300 though ) My hyper X was holding me back..

I now have a LBBLE 0515 running @ 311x9 = 2800mhz - well 2799!!!

1.56v Temps under 55C

OCZ @ 200mhz 2-2-2-5 1T

Just about broke 13K in Sandra, and bordering 6K in the memory benchmark..

I know it doesn't mean much.. but it's something.. Haven't run SuperPI since I have prime going @ 2.8ghz now!

Woot!

UPDATE: 6/8

Now running DDR 520 @ 3-3-3-7 1T

And have also lowered my voltage as well !

Couple screens..

1.44 not stable of course..

Got it rock stable @ only 1.5v

Pretty happy for now!

Dropped my superPi time to 26:37

Flash to bios 1.41 mod and go straight for 9x260 and start from there.....HTT 3x, memory at 133 divider cas 2.5....run superpi 8mb or greater....maybe prime for 30min to 1 hoiur and then jump iin 5 HTT increments...

Set vcore to 1.475 to get 1.41 actual vcore...closest to default as you will get.....

I usually set vagp to 1.55v, leave vdimm to 2.7v....
cool-n-quiet disabled ofcourse...Agp set 67....use SATA ports 3 and 4 only....

Haven't flash the BIOS yet, but will soon..

Currently running 9x230 Reading ( 2070 ) 1.41 in Core Center And 1.424 in CPU-Z

In the DRAM config, it has MAX memory clock (mhz) up to 200. What is different about changing it in there vs. that actual FSB in the main BIOS?

Is that the divider ? 133/166/200?

Is Core Center accruate?

IN dram config move it from atuo to 133 which is a 3:2 ratio....HTT on the main page is like the FSB.....I set the agp to 67 and should assure any and all locks are enabled...

Core center correlated with most thing pretty well, but it is known unstable and do not use any of its ocing on the fly options...get NF3 version of clockgen if you want to play with ocing in the windows environment, instead of rebooting everytime. It can fresh if you try to change too much at once....

I couldn't really get by 230 with out flashing the mobo (stock was like 1.2 though) to 1.37mod and then I started flying....I can post into the bios at 2.8ghz with 1.61v...not windows though....

So 166 is a 5/4 divider?

I guess flashing the BIOS is a definite since 250 wouldnt post for me. Considering where your CPU is now, and where 1.2 was holding you back too, i will def. update

166 is a 6:5 ratio or like 0.83%...It doesn't quite work perfect cause cpu speed has a factor in it as well...it will get you ballpark...I say leave it 133 for now and 3x HTT multi for now....This will rule out ram and HTT link and just concentrate on cpu...HTT on this boards have been tested by many to very stable up to 300HTT...I have prime test for 24 hours at 330HTT on a non modded board...stock hsf on the NB still...no volt mods, nothing....

Well right now 9x240 (3:2) boots and runs Prime..CPU-Z reads 1.424 (1.475 BIOS)

It's definitely not my ram at those speeds, and I'm sure the CPU could at least POST at those speeds.. (250)

Duvie said he couldn't get over 250 on the 1.2 BIOS, I am going to flash and see what happens.

Guess I'll try that

You running that 3x HTT multi and 133 divider right now??? You can always try adding a touch of vdimm and keep the timing loose as well...maybe cas 2.5 right now....I don't think the memory controller would throw you a curve ball this low in speed and HTT....

Keep going I am sure it is a board issue and not cpu yet....

I think so as well.

Right now 241x9 = 2169mhz
Vcore 1.475 (1.42 actual )

133 divider as well. Cas 2.5

Running prime just fine.. ( at least 20 min )

If i run 245x9, I get complete lockup, gotta clear CMOS.

Running BIOS 1.41 as well. No luck

Are all those workarounds for the neo2 necessary for the 1.5 BIOS? I have been running corecenter in the background and never did anything with the AGP clock. AFAIK it hasn't been a problem. Is there any major reason to choose the 1.41 modded BIOS over the official 1.5 BIOS?

Just that the official bios may not have all the overclocking options, and some of the mods are specific fixes done by others that may not be in the official ones released by MSI......

What is you power supply situtaion like???

At 245 and lockup have you tried to give it more juice??? bump it to 1.5v (which should be 1.44v actual)....if it still locks up that is definitely a wall and wouldn't be the cpu...mobo or power would be my guess...

You have the special 12v square 4 pin connected to the mobo right???

Went to DIMM slots 1 AND 2

12v connector is absolutely connected.

241x9 runs prime through the 1024k test( 1.475)

245x9 ( slots 1 and 2 ) Vcore 1.5 lock and i need to clear the CMOS

Ram?? TCCD?? BH5??

You listed cas 2.5, but what are th eother settings?? TRCD, TRP??? I would run cas 2.5,4,10,4 in that order on that page with 1t....

Also as repeated elsehere do not uise corecell to adjust HTT...unstable as hell...uss the clockgen program I sent you....

*****LOG of our PMs*****

This is so you can see what he has tried and what are his numbers....obviously read from bottom up for chronological order....

Duvie The next thing I was going to recommend was trying

1) swap sticks between the 2

2) use just one stick in slot 1

3) try the memory 100 divider

4) bump up to 2.85v of vdimm....

cool-n-quiet is disabled right??? 04/07/2005 04:39 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message

Those are P95 load readings. Zalman on the XP-90 running a only 2500rpm 45C@ 241x9

Still no dice above 250.. didnt do the PS thing yet..

Clock Gen also rebooted when i hit 245.

I have to work SO earyl tomorrow, so i am going to P95 this.. If it makes it through the night, there is definitely some kind of issue.

Thanks for all the help .

I'll be hitting you up tomorrow.

Old Private Message Duvie 1t is tighter but saometimes some stick of ram hav eissues going to "loose"...

Also cas 2.54 is fine but you cant leave the trcd a 3 and the trp a 2 perhaps....run 2.5,4,10,4 in that order....

Antecs have some known boot issues with this board...shut down completely hit switch off then on and restart...go into bios set speed and start....

that 11.90v at idle??? Any load readings..... 04/07/2005 04:31 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message

Old Private Message Duvie remove dimm 2 altogther...

have you tried 1t??? I had some ram that would not run cas 3 or 2t after a certain point...what ram are you using...

Again what PSU...Could be a power issue....Have you tried bumping vcore?? What does the bios and cre center say your +12v and +3.3v rails look like??? 04/07/2005 04:22 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message

Old Private Message bjc112 Will do..

As for the Core Center overclocking..

Went to 243 and hit ok, system rebooted.

Chaging dimm 04/07/2005 04:15 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message Duvie 1 and 3 means you are running single channel...for many 3 is a bad dimm to be ocing out of...show that in slot 2 and continue.... 04/07/2005 04:13 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message bjc112 2 stick ( but using slots 1-3 )

Could that be the problem?

SATA drive is on 3.

Dynamic is all disabled

HTT is 3x, what is the benefit of 5? Or the disadvantage? 04/07/2005 04:12 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message Duvie Try the clockgen yet...if you can clock higher in windows fine then it is a bios boot issue....

How many sticks are you running of ram??? using slots 1-2, right???

SATA drives are defintiely in ports 3 and 4 and not 1-2??...

There are some setting like dram strength, dynamic overclocking, etc on that cell submenu...what do you have set...HTT multi is 3x now and no .5's??? 04/07/2005 04:09 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message bjc112 Very odd.

1.41 flash went fine. Still 245 complete lock, no post.

241x9 in windows running Prime..

I actually think this chip has some headway, there has to be something else that could be causing it? No? 04/07/2005 04:03 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message Duvie Also to rule out bios..bott into at 240 then use this clockgen to raise the HTT with the dial and see if it holds...i am sending it now... 04/07/2005 03:56 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message Duvie It wouldn't hit a wall that fast.....

1.475 then plus 3.3% over vid gives me like 1.44v actual....Right now over vid should be nothing....just cpu vid....

Try the new bios. see if that helps but list all the rst of the stuff above the HTT, please... 04/07/2005 03:56 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message bjc112 I'll try the Winflash..

I really have a feeling it is the BIOS.

At 240x9 boots right up, runs prime.

245 BOOM, no post. Clear CMOS

The on the i am not sure about is Under CPU voltage its say Over VID 3.3%

Why not just set it to 1.475 in the setting above?!?! ( that's what it's at.)

So
DRAM:

133
2T
2.5

HTT= 3x
240x9

Vcore 1.475
2.8Vdimm
1.6AGP
66-67 as well

It's either BIOS or this just just suddenly hits wall within 50mhz 04/07/2005 03:53 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message Duvie Use winflash and try that 1.41mod I sent U...like I said I dont trust or like the MSI officials...

Also go ahead and go into the cell menu and list every setting you have set...

do the saem fro the DRam menu....

I will help you set it exactly to mine....

04/07/2005 03:46 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message
Old Private Message bjc112 Hmm thought I was flashing with 1.41 but when I TAB to enter post I see 1.5

Either way, can't post past 240x9 (133) cas2.5

I wonder if it is a BIOS issue or the chip..

Runs Prime just fine at 240 04/07/2005 03:37 AM Mark as unread View Delete Message

Is BIOS 1.5 seem like a good bet? Or is the 1.4 mod really the one to go with?

You need to drop the multi to 8x and raise the HTT to 250.....If it cant do it it is the board...If it can then the cpu is the culprit....

Well here's the odd thing.

@ 241 x 9 ( 2169 ) 133 Divider / c2.5 just to rule out the ram.

1.475 ( BIOS )

2.8VDimm

1.4B1 Bios as well.

I can run prime for at least 6 hours ( woke up and was still chuggin away )

Anything above 243 and it won't even post..

There's got to be something else.

Thanks for the help.

THere is NO way that 30mhz would cause it not post and require a CMOS pull

When I get home I'll try that.

If it DOES happen to be the board, where do I go from there?

I thought the Neo2 was easily capable of handling those speeds.. Try another? What Next?

Anyone stll think power COULD be an issue?

Antec 430..

Had a Sparkle 350 running 1 more optical drive / 1 HDD + 3 more case fans with no problems..

I don't see how power could be an issue.

No... it's just the CBBID processor. I can't get mine past 245 HTT either without using a 2:1 divider and keeping core speed well below 2 GHz. It doesn't respond to voltage, different BIOS doesn't help. They're good lower power CPU's, that's about it. Don't seem to get much more than 10% overclock out of them. I've given up on trying to get it higher. I'm at 2475 right now with my 3500+ so that'll do until I can find a Venice for a reasonable price.
