Sorry if it is a repost and I'm not sure how many of you would say this is a hot deal.
I hope that someone might find it useful.
I just found this site for accident while I was trying to get my credit information from transunion.
Here, freecreditprofile
Honestly I don't know how good this site is but at least it offers 30 days free membership. I just got my credit report and cancelled my trial membership without any problem.
Thanks.

The best place to get a free report is Trans-union, it's only a basic report, no extra stuff, it's good for people that just want to check 1 or 2 times a year that no one else has been using their identity. No need to sign up for anything and have to worry about canceling.

Can you please link the site? I found the main web site but am having problems finding the specific site.

PrivacyGuard will give you a 3-month trial for $1. Be sure to cancel beforehand, though, or you'll get dinged $89.99. From PrivacyGuard, you can retrieve your report from all three bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union) and compare the three against each other. And, you'll get your credit score from one of the bureaus (most likely Experian, that's what they gave me). And, for another $10 you can get the score from the other two and another $3 will give you a WhatIf summary that will give you a scenario on your credit score if certain things are paid or something.

That's only one of the credit reporting agencies... If you really want to be diligent, you'd need to get a report from each agency.

Credit Report (& Score ?) is sent by mail or e-mail ?

TIA

available online... i had a problem with verifying my identity at first but i called them and they fixed it up for me...

now the only worry is... if it was that easy for me to verify who i was... how hard would it be for someone else to pretend to be me?

probably need to call in... it'd be too easy if you could do it on a web site... they count on you to forget so to make a profit...

Yes, but this one is free, and getting one credit report is better than not getting any.

click order where it says TransUnion Personal Credit Report - fees vary - maximum $9.00

YMMV
during the application process you have to choose unemployed in-order to receive a free credit report, once you finish the application process you report is immediately available to view online.

for this PrivacyGuard trial - if you create a one time use c.c number for the
$1 charge, they cant try to charge the membership fee on it 3 months later, correct?
I will try my Discover card single use feature

I would contact Discover first. I'd want to be sure that a prior authorization on a particular card # wouldn't still be valid.

Thanks a lot. I've been meaning to run a credit report on myself again for a while now. Having this one be free (yes I'm really unemployed 10 months so far) is a great help.
