I meant to post this before, but you could use this for a MAME project. If it actually has a good picture, it might be better than a tv-output and a large tv in a MAME cabinet, especially because you can just use the VGA connector. Don't know if you're interested in anything like that, that's why I asked if it was available online or not.

I don't know Jiffy, I just played some UT2004 8X6 "holy sh*t" settings, 8XS/16X, and it looked pretty good and ran between 100-150 fps.

I'd pay $75 for that monitor just to play UT, it's not much money.

Bah. Size isn't everything. If you want a gorgeous UT experience, get a 2405fpw and run it at 19X12 . Or try running component video out to an HDTV - should look much better as well.

I just think it's silly to buy a TV for "just UT" or a couple of games that work with 8X AA (which would probably kill anything besides your 7800 SLI setup).

800X600 is crap, no matter how much you AA it. Maybe it looked fine on your monitor, but imagine on a 31" CRT. Yikes.

Well I do usually play UT at 19X14 4x8X, which looks pretty good.

Another thing is if he has 7800SLI as well he could do the 16XAA on it, which is a lot o'AA.

To me, it would be worth $75 just to try it. You couldn't really lose much if you didn't like it.

Yes, it emits potentially harmful VLF-ELF emission, and it can be especially bad on a monitor this old if it isn't shielded well.

Neck aches are caused by the flickering of the display, it doesn't matter how 'good' it is.

The redraw or refresh rate of many monitors is 60 Hz. This speed can cause a flicker that makes the screen appear to roll. The flicker stimulates the eye to accommodate or to refocus, tiring the visual system.

Even at 85 Hz I used to get back/neck aches. Upwards of 100 Hz I believe I didn't get them (nor at long distances from a TV), but it's hard to find displays that can refresh that fast at high resolutions. My neck aches have gone away since I started using an LCD. I am still looking at a short distance, however LCDs do not flicker, and my neck aches are gone. How do you figure?
