In the e-mail explain that you are in the class but wish to remain annonymous for obvious reasons. Name names... Then explain in detail how the rest of the class cheated and copy/paste (or maybe clean it up a bit) what you just wrote here.

Your name stays out of it and the prof knows.

After that, it's up to the prof.

Me? I'm not shy about that stuff. I'd just tell the prof.

I like this idea! If the prof is smart they'll probably respond by having an unscheduled re-test, and the folks who cheated the first time will probably get screwed.

I'm not sure if she cares.....she;s been teaching so long that she obviously knows that they are fvked anyways....

I'll admit, the exam was tricky (laplace transforms are SOOOOO long) but it didn't justify this...

Laplace transforms are easy you just look up the transforms on your cheat sheet and make the required substitutions.

getting to the point during a timed test is a bitch though

I got nervous and took the derivative of some random number after I had it in the form..lol

hence the "grinding" of teeth

How did they cheat if it's problem solving. Unless you're professor used same problems from hw or something.

I'm probably going to fry for this, but whatever..I'll tell the world....

theft.

I was only informed about this a long time after the test because I was bitching about my grade to everyone so long that one eventually said "why didn't you ask us for help" and then it all came out....

So they had the test ahead of time. That would make it a hell of a lot easier.

Report them. That hurts your grade, and tarnishes the image of your university when they grant degrees to a bunch of dumbasses.

as a service to my fellow students (the passing rate for this class is really low) I decided that I would take all the transparencies, scan them, and make a nice website so that people could go to it and see all of the notes/examples etc and focus on listening to the professor and actually learning it during lecture rather than trying to decrypt her sometimes-cryptic handwriting...

I did it to help myself (so that I would have the notes whenever I needed them and I wouldn't lose them, and I did it for everyone else as we all fought over the transparencies at the end of each class...this way streamlined it all

I didn't mean for it to be used like this:|

then freaking explain it to us. just take the 2-3 sentences to explain the situation so we can all get a better understanding of your pain and suffering and post comments to make you feel better that you ****** up on the test.

i'm surprised that as an EE major you are reacting to cheating in this way. all i can say is get used to it. luckily, for you, it gets harder and harder to cheat on tests. most of my professors wouldn't even make the midterms/finals until a few days before. bottom line is that if you don't take the time to learn the basics about EE you are royally ******, so trust me they will get theirs.

Ok have a good one. Feel better man, you'll realize that the grading system is the suck and get over it. Wait until they try to get jobs during interviews and such. Just don't punt your dog off a bridge.

I think if I taught in college, I'd make up a test, and then the day before I gave it, right before going to the print shop, I'd change the numbers in a nice, even way, so that the answers to all of the problems end up being half, double, or whatever of the original answer. Easy way to trip up a bunch of cheaters.

And then I'd paraphrase what a CS prof of mine did once, march up to the front of the class after the tests are graded, and announce that the original test was different than the actual test, there was absolutely no way that the people taking the actual test would arrive at the answers from the original test, and that those who cheated--you know who you are--would do well to drop out of the class today or face the harshest penalties for academic dishonesty that the university had to offer.

we were allowed to use the book for the laplace transform table....I guess she didn't care about using the actual book (which really wasn't that useful anyways)

Cheer up then. Experience will eventually phase out grades anyways (especially when that C wasn't even for your course grade).
