Originally i wanted to get the sharp aquos 43U 32inch 720p screen. But its running around $760, which is a little too pricey i think for a 720p/32"

so i looked around at other options and was wondering if anyone knows anything about Syntax Olevia screens. Im looking at 2 models right now

the 532H, 332H and the 232V , anyone have any experience with these screens or the brand?

Any other suggestions for a good 32inch 720p screens that are in the $600-$700 range?

** The westinghouse SK-32H240S just went on sale, anyone have experience with this set?

I forget which one I currently have. 332 or 232. Its a 36inch if that helps.

Anyways, I don't like the tv. I'm a brand person, a quality person and this TV came with my gf so its a placement holder for now until I find a dealer that sells the Mits DLP WD-65734. From my experience with this tv is, its good for the price. On HD channels, it looks good, at times blurs on actions scene's, but generally, its has good PQ.

I have the screen around 9 feet away and its tiny. So this TV is meant for up close, keep that in mind. It only had 1 HDMI input and only goes up to 1080i. It has a series of component inputs and all these other types I'm not interested in. At the very least, 2 HDMI's is my bare requirement.

Like I said, its good for its price. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on such a tv. Save a bit more, or even finance yourself into a better brand, and a bigger size tv.

You can get the 32" Vizio for under $600 at Sam's Club. I have the 37" version and I love it.

Ditto that^ I have the 232V as well, and with the exception of a bit of a wierd menu, the picture is great.

I have the 232v and I'm pretty impressed with it, although I can't really compare it to other ones since this is my first HDTV. The OTA hd channels look great and I have no complaints. I also have a decent dvd player hooked up to it (only 480p)-- I like the picture better than my old 27" tube but I can imagine the picture being better. There seems to be sort of a ghosting effect at certain times and dark scenes don't look that great. (I've calibrated the set to some extent using DVE and suggestions from other people) Perhaps the ghosting issue would go away if I got a next gen or upconverting player since it doesn't show up on regular tv broadcasts.

With that said, I still really like this set. And I got it for only around $400 at Circuit City. Keep an eye out on the hot deals section or other places like slickdeals- Circuit City changes the price for this set often and can be had at a pretty nice price with the addition of coupons.

edit: oh and the menu kinda sucks and the remote control response is pretty meh. But I can deal with those things.

232V owner here from CC as well. First IQ is great for a item so cheap. IQ via hdmi is alot better than IQ via component as one would expect. The first one I had I immediately returned because it did some weird ghosting thing via certain inputs.

At the time I bought it was half the price of most 32 inch sets. Great deal still for a second unit for bedroom etc.

Has anyone done A/B comparisons on all the super-cheap 32" LCDs out there? Store appearance is usually useless.

I guess none of them come cheaper than $400 though. Yikes.

Olevia makes great sets but Vizios are a little nicer. You can't go wrong either way though.

Toshiba Regza is an AMAZING tv in this size. Got mine a few weeks ago for $715 shipped and couldn't be happier with it.

My buddy just got this from BB. Looks pretty darn good, nothing compared to my new Toshiba Regza 42" .
But yes, I thought it looked a little better than the vizio.

I'm also looking for a 32" 720p screen (to replace a 27" CRT). A lot of what I watch is SD content. Everything I read about the cheap screens either does not mention SD content, or complains about it. I'm currently looking at a relatively expensive Samsung because I haven't heard a single bad thing about SD on it, and several good things.

Look at the second paragraph of my post in a similar thread. You might be able to swing a 42" 720p Vizio from Sears for $700. Also, to those who might be thinking that a 32" 16:9 screen will be bigger than a 27" 4:3 screen, think again. If you use this TV calculator, you'll see that a 27" 4:3 screen is 21.59" tall, and a 32" 16:9 screen is 20.84" tall. If you're viewing SD stuff, it will actually be smaller on the 32". HD content and WS DVDs will obviously be larger on the 32".
