What exactly is wrong with the picture? Fuzzy text? Colors washed out? Too dark, too bright?

Is there an overscan option?

The font/text seems a tad blurry for my taste, I have went through all the TV settings options and don't see a option for overscan.

^ Agreed. Although looked awesome in some games (worse on others), I could never use my 32" HDTV as a monitor. For one, it was too bright and irritating up close. Text was more difficult to read (poor PPI). That quickly ended my experiment with TVs as monitors.

It is not meant to be used as a computer monitor. It is a cheap TV. Return and buy a monitor is my suggestion.

Indeed. In addition, how far from the monitor do you sit?
I'm about 2ft from my 27'' 1440p, if you're the same distance from a 32'' 1080p you must be able to make out individual pixels without even trying!
If that's the case, no wonder it looks awful.

I'm using a pair of 24" Westinghouse HDTVs as computer monitors, primarily because the HDTVs were $100 at BB, and a comparable monitor would have cost me at least $130 at BB or Newegg.

The screen isn't as super-sharp as my 1920x1200 monitor, but it's sharp enough to use.

The PPI of 1080p at 32" is horrendous. No wonder you're not happy.

Do yourself a favor and do some basic research next time before you splurge your cash.

Try calibrating Windows Cleartype.

This ought to help but don't expect miracles. Some TV's have a PC/console input preset, that's what I would look for. Either way, you'll have to sit further away, 32" & 1080p is a bad combo.

Did you try going into CCC, expand the "My Digital Flat-Panels" option on the left-hand side, then select "Scaling Options" under that? If you're connected via HDMI, this should show an overscan slider. It sometimes defaults to 5% or 10% overscan, which looks terrible. If you set it to 0% overscan, it should display correctly at the panel's native resolution.

Sometimes HDMI doesnt scale right. I would say "connect the VGA" but you dont even have that option. Take that thing back, then take your machine in to best buy and ask to hook it up to some tvs to see how it looks.

I have a cheap 249$ 40 inch Hisense TV that works great as a monitor, just in case you guys are looking for another stopgap in the future. Text is clear, color is nice, and it scales excellent. I bought it cheap to watch Netflix but its actually a nice cheap TV/monitor.

My Panasonic TV has a place in Settings to choose what kind of display it will be used for. Choices include TV and Computer Monitor. You might want to go into the Settings menu on your TV to see if you have a similar option.

Ive fiddled about with the settings in the TV as well as AMD CCC with no luck, at least not anything that makes it look acceptable. The Witcher 3 which looked very good on the old monitor looks much worse on this.
Any ideas on what I should be adjusting?

When I used my Samsung TV as a monitor, it looked really bad. Colors were all washed out and the picture was blurry. I was able to go and manually change the name of the source (input) that the PC was connected to on the TV to "PC" or "computer" and suddenly it looked way better. Not sure if you can do the same thing here with this model, but it's worth checking out.

Yes, try this. Be warned that not all HDTVs will allow 1:1 pixel mapping even with the driver's overscan adjustment. The hardware/firmware of the TV controls this. I usually bring along my Windows tablet when I go TV shopping and test the pixel mapping on the demo units to make sure it works how I expect.

If you don't have a notebook/tablet to bring, another good test is go to Best Buy, pay close attention to the wall of displays all side by side. You can see which displays overscan by default versus those that don't. If you find one that is zoomed in too far, use the remote to check for overscan settings on the TV. It's the only way to be sure.

Also, don't forget to re-name the entry like HDMI 1 to PC or computer, many HD TV's have a configuration for working like a PC monitor, you just need to activate it.

This happened to me, when I renamed the entry HDMI 2 to PC the screen blinked and surprise, better text, colors, everything.

Hope it helps.
