First time I've seen a 32" LCD for <500. Is there something bad about this TV?

If this is the first 32" LCD TV you have seen for under $500, you've got to get out more.
Currently Best Buy offers one, Circuit City has two, Costco one, Sam's one and Walmart one - just to name a few. And most of these aren't on any sale.

By under 500 do you mean 499.99? I've seen plenty of those but none at 450..

Maybe I do need to get out more..

You can get this down to $415 would coupons (there is a 5% off, up to $15 one on their site) and another $30 knocked off if you sign up for their CC. Free shipping too, its not bad.

It's reconditioned though, not brand new.

Shortly after black friday last year, I got a 32" dynex for $414 after 12% coupon at best buy. It has at least two of every kind of input (even HDMI). I love it. I even bought the 3 year replacement plan because it was only like $40. I haven't seen anything comperable since then (but I haven't been looking too hard).

They say (and I don't know who "they" is I guess) don't get under 40" if you are going to buy these. But this sure is a nice price. Is it just too small to carry a living/family room though if you want to get your feet wet? The economy is tough.....

32" is pretty small for a HD set if you're not going to be sitting practically on top of it. I agree with "them" in that 40"+ is where you want to be for HD video and normal viewing distances.

I have a 46" and 32" (this one due to the size of my nice wooden Pier 1 TV center) and the view distance makes a big difference.

The 32" I have to run at 720p or I cannot see the text from about 6' feet away.

However for gaming and movies it works fine

For a viewing distance of 8-10 ft (my living room couches to the tv) the 32" Dynex I just picked up seems to work fine. Movies, TV, gaming are all great as you would expect. When I web surf or goof off in windows it's a little harder to read but not painful. I can see where a 40" would be better but with the primary purpose of playing movies and shows the 32" works great... plus it's hard to beat the $480 I paid for it compared to the $700+ for a 40" (yes I know it was cheaper last year)
