I looked at em today and they are both silver but nothing indicated to me that they were HDTV. I also checked out the boxes in the back and there was nothing about HDTV on them. Here are the model numbers and prices:

32" Tau / CT32SC13 / $597
27" Tau / CT27SC13 / $368

There is another Panasonic TV that is definitely HDTV, it is a 47" widescreen projection. The price was $1284, I looked it up on Panasonic's website and this is what I found. Its a cool $300 under MSRP at least. The curious thing is that on the tag the model number is listed as PT-47WXC42 but the box on the back is PT-47WXC43. I have no idea what significance that holds.

Maybe what some people get confused with whether it is HDTV or not, is that the tau's say "high definition sound" on the bottom right corner. If I wasn't looking closely enough, I might have thought that it was HDTV too. I'm guessing high definition sound is just some form of dolby pro logic or something like that.

These TVs are new to Walmart, and with a ll due respect to Walmart employees.... you aren' radioshack or bestbuy employees. They aren't really expected to know which tv is which. Someone probably just mislabeled the display models.

By the by... anyone noice that these wonderful walmart only part numbers are gonna mess up any pricematches ? Yuo can still do it on the E series I guess.

I have always wondered why they do this. My guess what is was to help on return fraud, but they can still do this with Wal-Mart unique UPC codes. Who knows? I am in the transportation industry, and I can attest that Wal-Mart is just about everyones most important customer. People bend over backwards for these guys.

Yes, like I said, most companies put the knee pads on when it comes to MegaLow-Mart, I mean Wal-Mart. They have too much power and they know it. This seems like borderline racketeering. This, their lousy labor relations, and the fact that they shut down all smaller stores make me almost want to boycott, but I don't really care that much. I guess that I am addicted to Sam's choice cola.

That's not entirely true. Analog TVs can't use digital signals, period. Every single article I've read on the subject states that after analog transmissions cease, analog sets will require an add-on digital tuner to view over-the-air broadcasts. So, you'll be able to use your analog TV, but you'll need to buy an expensive accessory for it. If you have digital cable TV, satellite TV, etc. then you're already good; the set-top box already converts a digital signal to analog. Here are a few articles I found after a quick search:

CNN article

LA Times column

LA Daily News article

Philips FAQ

I just have a slight feeling the switch over date will be pushed backed. Masses of consumer groups will run all over the capitol getting some congressmen to listen to them to push back the date. What will happen to those who can't afford digital tvs? Are they to be left out in the cold with no information on news broadcasts. I mean millions of people depend on the TV for updates on news and emergency stuff.

Small little stories that are immeadiate might not make it on to the radio fast enough to alert people. Like my local tv news channel reported that the cops blocked off a whole neighborhood but my brother who listens to the radio @ work never even heard of it.

I picked up a 32" flat screen tonight at Walmart for $388+tax. it's a very good TV for the $$. my model number is CT-32SC13-1G. It's gotta weigh over 150lbs! It was pretty heavy and bulky to lift into my house and onto the shelf. I'm very happy with it over the deal they were offering on the 36" RCA. The RCA was once of the older Xbox ones with the curve face for $400..but it was a display model...had been on for who knows how long.

This must have been a price mistake by a slow CSR. Walmart sells a 32" nonflat panasonic for $388 model CT32E13. They musta labelled em wrong or something

I think that was probably the case. I gotta go to the Walmart is Traverse City tomorrow, I'll see if they have the right price. According to someone on another thread, the right price for this TV is 597...guess I caught the wrong price before they did. I've done that before on computer parts they sell along with a baby walker they had accidently under the wrong sign. I love when that happen...the price dropping smiley face slashed too much off this time I guess.
