I don't see free shipping. In fact, I don't even see a TV (there's no image displaying). They also don't appear to have it in stock.

Sorry, my bad! My internet connection here at work seems to be hosed right now. The page is only 7% complete (50 items remaining).

There is no image available, What exactly does HDTV ready mean?
Years ago they use to sell tvs with ads that said cable ready, which meant nothing.

HDTV in this case means 480p/1080i.

There is a thread on a 16:9 30" Monovision monitor that costs ~$1k shipped. That's a better deal.

r01axb, 'HDTV ready' means that you can use it watch standard TV and DVD movies at their best with a progressive scan DVD player. If you wish, you can also purchase a HDTV tuner and watch super high quality HDTV programs.

Some Circuit city BM carry the Zenith HDTV + integrated tuner built-in for $899 to $1100 (open box).
For NFL fans, the Monday nite and ESPN-HD football games are broadcasting in 720p format.

If an HDTV doesn't actually have 720P, it will convert to the other HDTV format, which is 1080i. It will probably look perfectly fine. 720P upconverted to 1080i might even look better than native 1080i because it requires less compression so there might be fewer compression artifacts, such as blocky breakup of the picture.

Not all HDTVs can handle 720p, some brands (Mitsubishi) refuse to deal with it at all. 720p to 1080i isn't necessarily an "upconvert" and has nothing to do with "compression". Most HD tuners will output at a fixed resolution (ie:1080i). I watch everything at 720p because I prefer progressive display more.
