Same here. That being said, I love how colleges are digging their own graves. At the current rate, it's going to cost 400,000 to send a kid to a state school. No one's going to have college degrees in 20 years if this keeps up. D:

~30% of students at the UC's get a full ride including room and board (which is more than 2x expensive than tuition). it's bullshit that "poor (-70k)" people going to the UC's get their fees covered by fellow students (70k+) who are taking out more and more loans to go to the same school.
students shouldn't be starting behind other students (income-wise) at the university level just because their PARENTS make a decent amount of money.

I read the cost will go to about $10K a year, which as stated above, is still decent compared to other states.

California schools are cheap... the cost increase in dollars probably isn't that huge, it just seems big compared to the low tuition. The cut has to make budget cuts somewhere.

Also:
CNN affiliate KCRA captured footage of students outside the building shouting, "Who's university? Our university!"

I don't see the issue. As other people have stated, the cost AFTER the increase is going to be comparable to other state schools. QQ more.

That's one way to ensure that the US gets back all of it's unskilled manufacturing jobs lost to Mexico and SE Asia.

CA tuition is still VERY cheap compared to some other states. That and cost there are higher such as salary and schools needs.

So yea it sucks but maybe some will think twice before spending a pile of money for a Degree that is nothing more then junk paper.

Not really. I would pick UT over any UC schools in terms of tuition and bang for the buck.

wtf. tuition at ucla is only $10K a year???? 33% sounds huge, but if it was that cheap before, that still seems like a good price for a respected school.

penn state i believe is around $15-$20k a year

For in-state students. Out-of-state tuition is like 28K more

Too many idiots waste everyone's money by going to college anyways, maybe this will help thin the herd (doubtful). I think tuition was $5700 when I graduated in '06.

ppl out of state should be going to their in-state colleges then if they are broke, or go to a private school since 28K+10K pretty much = private school.

i guess there are some ppl who dont have many good state colleges in their state though.

You have to compare everything else (cost of living), not just tuition. It's probably very expensive to live near UCLA. A quick check on State College, PA on craigslist shows that rent is about $400-500 a month. I see at least $750 /month in LA, most of them are more expensive.
