Please post some OCing results from these chips. The BW indicates it's the newer E6 chip, there's been much debate over the 3000 model e3 vs. e6. Now that the price dropped, I'm leaning towards this because of the 10x multiplier. tia.

If I ever purchase anything from eWiz, I'll be able to say, "My wallet took a wizz at eWiz." Ok, not all that clever, but to me the store's name sounds like "e-Piss".

I just got mine today (Well, tried to deliver 2 days ago, but I am lame and wasn't home).

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a fan?

I am looking to do some slight overclocking perhaps, but noise is my #1 concern. I have a P180 case, and an EpOX 9npa ultra - I looked through the cooling page, but most people there are concerned with the OC abilities. Also what sort of compound should I look for to hook the two together. This is the first time building a system from scratch (my last system was more of an upgrade as I went thing).

Mine just arrived. I ordered on Friday afternoon, and had it Monday afternoon. Ewiz has always been good to me. I'm shooting for 2.6ghz or better with water cooling.

Ahhh they raised the price, back up to $138. The link for the $131 is correct, weird they do it that way. They charge slightly over $8 for shipping for the $131 link. Cheaper to buy the $138 price with free shipping.

Me too. Had to do it. I also grabbed a ThermalTake fan at ~$20 and a tube of Arctic Silver. ~$225 total shipped.

Anyone have any good suggestions on RAM and a new video card? Newegg has OCZ value 1gb for ~$87, is that ok? I also saw the Sapphire X800GTO deal but I haven't been a big ATI fan. Anyone wanna convice me?

I saw this today and spent about 20 mintues researching it because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Wound up getting the chip and the ASRock M1695 because it was on sale today for $67.96 shipped. This isn't a gaming machine. It's an upgrade to my 754 rig which I use for .Net/web development, so I thought I'd get the ASRock a shot - it has pretty good reviews on Newegg.

Total was $206.22 (no shipping!). Sweet!!!

Here's the specs page at amd. If you'll notice the box ordering p/n is the same as what other sites are selling for $190 plus. Yet another killer deal.

Yeah its been this price for a while, but I dont know what to think of the "BW" Core type. Common sense would say its better than the "BP" you see everywhere else.... bigger letter = newer, right? After a little searching it appears theres nothing really wrong with this -- its the E6 stepping, while the BP is E3, but i still wonder why eWiz has it so cheap.

BTW "BV" = Manchester (Dual Core = X2). Either these are bleeding edge or somethings not quite right

<edit>OK they're just the new runs of the Venice core, nothing to worry about it looks like. Week 30-(i've seen wk35) procs (BPs are week ~16-23)</edit>

just an FYI on the asrock dual, it OC's awesome from an FSB standpoint (over 300 by most...where mine is). In addition all stock it is the fastest or near fastest PCIe benches they have seen.

Where the limitation is you are limited to 1.45V on the venice 3000, 3200, etc cpus (.05V over stock). Still many get very good OCs with that. But I didn't...

The 3200+ I got from ewiz was only stable to a bit over 2.3Ghz with that voltage. I did this volt mod and brought me to 1.58-1.6V on the monitor...http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asrock/reviews/939dual-sata2/vcoremodguide1.htm

and am now stable at 2.5Ghz.

In addition, the 3000+ works great for this board because it would be extremely unlikely you will run out of FSB at 9X multi on air.

OCworkbench also has a very good review of the board with bios screens and peripheral tests, and a vdimm mod if you get real hard core (I don't think high FSB 1:1 is really worth it on these A64 but YMMV)

OK these E6 cores apparently suxor for OCing... looks to be about 2.5GHz with a voltage increase. The E3s could do 2.5GHz with default voltage, and if u bump the voltage, you're looking at 2.6GHz + on air!
