Not that I want to get too heavily in the car debates.. but..
If you want a commuter car, that is designed to be driven day in, day out for "normal" daily driving, then fine, add the supercharger and the exhaust and the little jetta will rock! Heck, do the same to an Integra and get similar results. Both cars were designed to be commuter cars that have good gas mileage and handle the day to day driving just fine.
BUT, I'd take a 1992 IROC Z28 with 350 ponies any day for my driving needs. I had a 1988 Z28 (305) and it was pretty darn fast (even if it was old, rattled, etc) compared to most things on the road. I could take newer mustangs off the line and all imports that came up to me (mainly integras, a few civics, etc). They could hang up to about 40mph, but after that, I could roll right pass them going to 90 (in 2nd gear no less).
The Camaro was never meant to be a commuter car (commute in the 60s? cmon, they hardly had the traffic we have today). The Camaro was meant to be a complete pony car with little much else in it (sound, AC, nothing more really). Its not a real fair comparison when comparing these two cars, but when performance comes to mind, all cars can be judged nearly equally.
I'm sure the stock Jetta could handle the turning faster and park into compact spots, but with some mods to the suspension I could have fixed up the Camaro quite nice. I have given my car to my brother and now have an Acura CL-S (2001) and I'll stick with it. It doesn't have as much power as the Camaro (the toque is what really counts), but I'm not into racing and need a commuter car with a little "umph" to it when I get onto the open roads in LA.
