Finally, it's back, compgeeks was out of stock because it's cheap,
I didn't go for the 32mb DDR geforce II GTS deal and jumb to this one because of the "need".
Think about it what a waste if we don't play 3d games but get the geforce because other anandtech people do that and we follow the wave? I think this card is good enuff to play diablo II.
Rebate is dead "If purchased before 12/31/00 - there is a $20.00 MAIL IN REBATE Available from Diamond MultiMedia!!!! That makes this card $39.95 net to you with the Rebate!!!" Rebate Link
I bought this card several months ago from C4S and still have not received by $20 rebate yet.
BTW - don't know why TuOni dredged this up from a month ago???
I bought this card back in Dec. when the rebate was going on. Used it in a system I built for a customer who needed to conserve money. Not too bad of a card for $45. Customer was happy to get a card that sold for over a $100 less than a year ago and is satisfied with the graphics. If you do own this card be sure to download the latest drivers at Diamond's site, it will make a difference.
I like the S3 version over Diamond version. Uninstall the Diamond drivers first before installing S3 version. I haven't had any problems under W98 using your standard apps and few older games (Unreal, Half-Life, few others) except it seems to use (Diamond driver also) about 5% of CPU at all times.
Regarding the card from computers4sure --> I got mine from them, and it was retail version. Regarding 2D quality, I really don't know what people are complaining about. I switched from G200, I can't see any difference...
I have to agree with StanG on this. I found the 2D quaility to be very good actually, better then the 2 Geforce cards I own. The 3D is fine with Win9X/ME and the latest drivers. Windows 2000 is a diffrent story thou, the drivers suck in a major way.
