OfficeMax's ad for sunday (7-14) has the Polariod for $89 - $50 MIR. Add the phone for $10 and use the $25 off $100 coupon. You will need to add $.01 to get over $100. The phone is free after rebate.

CDR #20149929
Phone #20081233

Does anyone know who makes the Polariod drive?
Thanks

Great Deal, Be careful beacause alot of those OM rebate all require original receipts. I personally hate OM Rebates.

Be careful with the Polaroid. The one my Dad got at OM.....I think it was a 24x external maybe, was a BTC POS. And, I believe Polaroid is in bankruptcy. He couldn't make it burn with Nero, Clonecd, or even the software it came with. Took it back and got his money back. You might wanna do a search on Anandtech, and see what has been said about the Polaroids.

I'm not saying this will be the same problem......just pointing out a caveat.

Unfortunately, this appears to be one of those OMax deals where it is $89.99 B&M but $119.99 if you buy it online. Don't need another burner but would have bought one of these if could have got it and the phone for $15 net. Oh well...

if ur like me & already have phones, think about getting the Memorex 50-pack of CDR's which also have a Mail in rebate. comes out a better deal if you figure you'll actually use them instead of a phone i hear is awful!

I got a 24X Polaroid CD-RW on Sunday at a local OfficeMax. I had really low expectations since it was a BTC Top Glory unit. I was pleasantly surprized.

I had no problems with its installation. Windows XP and Nero 5.5 recognized it immediately. I burnt a data and a music CD at 24X on Verbatim 32X media with no problems. Burn-proof feature successfully kicked in 5 times on the music CD since I was really pushing it by opening other apps and playing with the other CD drive while this one was recording.

And I love the price too: $60 price - $10 coupon off $50 - $40 MIR = $10.

i remember when Polaroid 24x was first on sale at OM, the thread about it has many ppl returning their drive after some use because they fail after some use. (BTC drive) Hopefully it was better now. But i highly doubt that they better a lot, they are now end of cycle product now...

Bringing a thread back from the dead (for all the wrong reasons).
Apparently, Polaroid is defaulting on their obligation to pay the rebates for these CDRW Drives.
If you call the rebate center they have a special mailbox setup to handle Poloroid inquiries.
It directs you to contact Damon Martin at 510-580-2478 to inquire about your rebate.
The phone number to the rebate center is 866-979-2800.
Damon Martin's email address is damonm@polaroidmemory.com.

Good luck on this one ... Hope we don't get burned. (no pun intended)

Polaroid was bought out so their bankruptcy isn't an issue.--Thyme

Well, it can't be because of the bankruptcy, cuz Thyme said that wasn't an issue. If it is confirmed that Polaroid won't honour the rebate, I wonder if OM would at least give a store credit in that amount, since they used the rebate in their ad, as an inducement to purchase?

Just curious? Why would anyone have ever participated in this deal when Polariod declared CH 11 bankruptcy back in January? Your best bet is to try to recover your funds from OM as they are the ones that advertised a rebate from a bankrupt company and they are the ones that still have funds to pay your rebate. Persuing this issue with Polaroid is a lost cause as you are simply a creditor among many and an unpaid rebate ranks about as far back in the creditor reinbursement line as you can get. Good Luck!

Here's a post from FW:

"Unfortunately, as with most things, the rumor mill has a wicked spin
on the truth. Actually, we pay rebates EVERY WEEK. The deal with
the response time is this. The responses have far surpassed the
'normal' responses. Therefore, the processing and payment times
have been stretched more than normal. However, they are still well
inside of what many manufacturers issue as standard. Therefore,
many of the rebates that we had hoped to pay in 6-8 weeks FROM
VERIFICATION DATE (also an important, but oft neglected factor),
are now being in paid anywhere from 8-13 weeks (typically 10-12).
In fact, the new rebate coupons reflect that fact (10-12 weeks from
verification).

Again, we are paying/issuing rebates every week. And you and our
other consumers can rest assured that we will CERTAINLY HONOR ANY
AND ALL ACCURATELY DOCUMENTED REBATE CLAIMS. Both now and in the
future.

Thank you, [Yukon] for having the wherewithal to take the 'rumor'
directly to the source for clarification. Also, it would be
appreciated if you would help to clarify this to others with whom
you might come in contact."

I missed the $10 burners, but took the last polaroid BurnMax32 32x10x40. Like a dunce, I mailed off all the necessary stuff for the rebate, but in a hurry forgot to make a copy of the original UPC. Now I'm s.o.l. cause I don't have a copy of the UPC to mail in for the free personal CD player for my boy. Anybody out there able to e-mail me,or pm me a copy of the UPC barcode?? Really appreciate it.Thanks very much if you can. Smiles.

telstar, OM current ad says, if you buy ANY CD-RW or DVD-RW Drive at OM you can send in the coupon (MIR) and they will send you a free CD player. Picture shows a personal CD player & 2 speakers. Valid from 7/21/02- 9/14/02. I'm a real dumbass on this one. I ALWAYS make extra copies of my stuff. That's what I get tryin to do thiese rebates past the midnite hour. Any help on a scan of the barcode for the BurnMax32 by Polaroid really, really appreciated. Thanks to all. If you have one (a copy of yours) please pm me or e-mail, thanks.Oh, ya, the coupon is in the mail in rebate directory they give you at the checkstand.
