can HDMI push 60hz at that resolution? I thought they needed DP 1.2 to hit 60Hz and using HDMI would default to 30Hz, or is that only with the 4k monitors?

As I understand it, HDMI 1.4 maxes at 50Hz at 3440x1440. HDMI 2 can handle 60Hz.

Yep, I'm pushing 3440x1440 at 50p Hz right now. I basically can't tell the difference in office use.

Would if I could. However it's about maximizing the outputs I have, and I don't really notice a difference between 50 and 60 Hz in use.

Once you get a 34" 3440x1440 screen in your face you'll wonder how anyone doesn't want one.

My 30" HP looks really goofy now after using a 21:9 screen for awhile.

On a side note, The Acer Predator is looking fantastic. 3440x1440, IPS-like screen, 144hz, and curved. Only thing I'm waiting to see is if they offer a Freesync model alongside their G-Sync display. I can't imagine why they wouldn't but maybe they have some exclusive agreement with Nvidia.

Has the Predator been confirmed as 3440x1440? All the stories initially said words like "we believe" and the like when it came to the res. Then follow-ups all fed off that and said things like "reported"... but nothing from Acer that I've seen. So until it is actually confirmed, then I am concerned this is another 2560x1080 like the LG Freesync's that are coming.

Good question. One place seemed to take the higher resolution as fact but the others didn't seem too sure. If they all have the same source, it's still up in the air.

"Later this year Acer will be releasing a couple of new gaming monitors which will be of the large curved 34", 21:9 ultra-wide variety. The resolutions of these screens will be 3440x1440 and will be available with and without G-Sync, it is unknown currently if the second version will use AMD Freesync."

It seems too good to be true but I believe! I believe!

Ugh why are these so expensive. I have been trying out the Dell 27 inch 4k IPS (P2715Q) that I got for $400. I could go dual 4K IPS for the price of one of these. Decisions...

Wish there was a way to see this monitor on display or try it out. My best buy only stocks the low res versions.

This thread got me to thinking something. I began to wonder if Evga precision would be able to overclock the monitor from 50hz to higher on the HDMI cord. Result.... Success!!! I easily got to 60 hz and the difference was immediately noticeable.

I will be switching to HDMI full time now lieu of displayport since I experience blank screen on sleep with displayport and my Titan Z. Displayport has been glitch since release for me.

So happy to have tried this out and succeed.

BTW, I have an LG 34um95 just like this thread is about.

From what I read it will with a custom resolution. Haven't tried it personally. I don't have a video card with hdmi 1.4

I have the 34UM95 but I only use it for gaming. I use the dp cable that came with it. Its a great monitor. Supposedly the GTX980 can run hdmi @ 60Hz with this monitor. Its built for it. Anything else you'll need a dp cable for 60Hz. Never heard of a clicking noise problem with this monitor. People have had problems with the sleep mode working correctly. Also some have had too much light bleed problems. Right now the Dell model is this monitor's main competition although its not perfect either.

IPS seems like a backlight glow lottery to some degree, but I'm pretty sure I got a good one. I'll take a look when I get to the office again. I didn't have a clicking noise problem.

i have to agree, i didnt know what to expect when i got this and TBH thought it was dumb when they first came out

but god damn this monitor is amazing

Just watching some videos of the old 29" 1080p 21:9 displays made me want one. I always said that I would make the move if someone would release one with the height of a 1440p display. I made the move and it was well worth it.

I don't know man personally I want high rez in the 21:9 ultra wide aspect ratio. 35" 8K @ 21:9 aspect ratio would be perfect IMHO. Of course then things like contrast ratio, Color accuracy and response time are also of high priority. That's why quality is also better than quantity. A better quality 1080P panel is better than a 4K shit tier TN panel.

I don't want to touch another high dpi display until the windows gui can properly handle one. My 24" 4k had awesome picture quality but Windows made the monitor a chore to use along with mst.

Sorry, I don't know that information.

You have to watch out for that. Unless a screen is specifically designed to have monimal input lag, it will almost invariably be real high. Generally ~2 frames or more (+30ms), depending on FPS.

When I owned that TV I didn't have ghosting if that's what your asking about. I couldn't run 4K with my set-up at the time, so I had to run @ 1440p and it was beautiful on that 50" TV.

I think a 50" TV would be too big to use as a monitor. I've got a 47" LCD and I can't imagine trying to use that thing from 2-3' away. Good deal on a 4k TV though.

No, not ghosting. When you move your mouse, for example, there is a delay before it happens on screen.
