Why would anyone?

I got a 27" 2560x1440 about 18 months ago and it died after about 2 weeks and I went back to my 24" 1200p monitor and it was fine.
After going from that 24" to a 34" 3440x1440p I wouldn't go back. It just feels like there's much more freedom.
With Win Vista/7/8 snap to the side functionality it means you can have it as 2 screens, but then in games and (super widescreen) films it's awesome.

Well worth the money.

I feel like I am going back to the stone-age when I work in the office sometimes and use a 1080P display...it is NOT the same.

That's the thinking that got me into this mess in the first place. Wonder if I could get a good price for my twin 2560x1440s at home...

I doubt it. I'd say that I'll know for sure after a week of acclimation.

Should have gotten a 1080p TN gaming screen cause if you play games that is what you need. These 34 ultra widescreen monitors are only good for productivity.. =P

I still have one sitting nearby, but I'm not adding it back to the mix. I'm looking to unload it. While I enjoyed lightboost/strobelight, it was the only monitor I had purchased that had a lone stuck pixel. It never seriously bothered me, but I'm glad to be rid of the flawed beast. Hopefully I can find it a good home.

But I was running eyefinity almost from the start, so getting back to proper wide view is a welcome return for my gaming experiences.

I had 2 34UM95 monitors and the backlight bleed is godawful. I now have 2x Dell U3415Ws and the backlight bleed is better but not nonexistent how I would like. That said I think 21:9 monitors are the future and I'll never go back.

Yeah, the winners are those not sensitive to blb for sure. And I'm one of 'em. Woo!

I'm not sure sensitive is the right word. I think the proper term is anal. I am completely anal when it comes to a stuck or dead pixel. Once I see one it's like I go out of my way to see it all the time and it ruins any kind of enjoyment I might have. BLB to me isn't as important. Why? because with most backlight bleed, only the darkest images will show it which I find doesn't suit how I use my screens. Also, the amount of ambient lighting is a big factor. I always have a light on. Also, angles tend to show off blb (and IPS glow) along with extreme proximity which I'm always dead on in relation to my monitor and about 2 feet away or more.

As previously stated, photographs are almost always completely over exposed and are rarely representative of the actual amount of BLB noticeable to the user.

agree with Lava

dead pixels (depending on color are much worse) location of them is also an issue, I have a monitor with 1 stuck on red but its location is the transition between the windows taskbar and the desktop and its nearly impossible to see unless you hide the taskbar
