Anyone know who actually manufacturers the SuperScan line? Is it Magnavox? Phillips?

No component = substandard quality if you're watching DVD's.

Given that it's EASIER to derive a signal from component inputs than from S-Video, I'm surprised that the TV has no component inputs, but has a tuner. :|

i don't get why component video is so good for non-hd televisions??? i think it's all just a gimmick

Big thanks to
Jokersmoker for an excellent deal.

$30 worth of thanks to paulmob for making a great deal greater!

One thing though, forgget about putting this thing into a 'car,' you need a a 'truck' for it, any better deals than $19.99 + mileage U-Haul?

When my bro picked up our new tv, I got some different cables to test it out on. I used "The One" on DVD (with Jet Li) as my reference. Coaxial looked fine to me, it was what I normally watch movies on. Most of the televisions in our house only have RF input. I pulled out an s-video cable and gave that a try. It definately made the picture sharper. I paused the DVD on one shot where it's zoomed in on a guy's arm and you can see a police badge with text on it. Switching between RF and s-video, the text was MUCH more ledgible with s-video. It didn't do much for color or anything else tho. I then tried out some component cables (Python brand, from ebay - I like em a lot!). The component cables improved the color a LOT. The difference was very noticeable. The picture wasn't any sharper, but it was almost like going from black and white to color. It wasn't an enormous jump, but it was very noticeable -- the colors were much more vivid. So, that's my take on cables. RF is fine for me, s-video makes the picture sharper, and component cables give you better color. I left the component cables on, simply because I bought them and now and own them. Truthfully, I just like watching movies and 10 minutes into the movie I couldn't care less if it was a 20" TV with audio from the TV or a 32" TV with surround sound

i know s-video would crush the rf, but i didn't think about component video improving color. i guess you have a point with that, but this is just a tv for my parent's bedroom. we have a panny 500 in the basement as our theatre projector, i keep my sony wega 32" that i got off these forums 5 years ago in the family room, i have a hand me down apex 24" in my bedroom, and my cousin has a sony 27" trinitron in his room

Argh, I worked right through this deal. Didn't get home till after sale was over, would have been a nice upgrade from our 15+ year old 27" Hitachi (was a really nice one at the time) in our family room.

I went to my kid's house to take her with me and buy this tv. Funny thing is I have an old convertible parked on the her street and somebody in a truck hit it. Actually that isn't funny but there was a witness. By the time I got done with reports n such I was worried that I'd miss out on the deal but plenty was in stock at my area. The store had a price of $349.99 so I showed a saleswoman the internet price and she matched it plus another $5 off for the price difference. When she subtotaled the transaction I then showed the coupon which she accepted. I got nervous when she had to call a supervisor to approve the deal since I've had very bad experiences when they get involved. Happily it went without a hitch. I get to pick it up from the local warehouse in the morning. Thanks alot for posting this deal
