$35 VCR's

I went to my local K-Mart today. I went into their electronics department and saw a person buying a RCA 4 haead VCR. It was open box but there were no dents or anything. They had them with their display VCR's. They werent marked open box or clearance but i checked with the guy that was there and he said they were all $35. There was about 5 still left. You can also purchase their extended warranty for $5. Check ur local K-Mart for this deal!

Other than the fact that the sales receipt is proof of your warranty start date, the financial health of K-Mart, or any other retailer for that matter, has nothing to do with a manufacturer's warranty. You are entitled to warranty service whether or not your dealer is still in business.

Besides, the average VCR warranty is 90 days. Even if K-Mart filed for Chapter 11 tomorrow, they would probably last longer than 90 days.

The extended warranty is the one to be suspicious of. Is it backed by an insurance company? If not, it may die when K-Mart goes under.

Kmart's extended warranties are handled by a company called WarrantyGuard. I don't know about their financial health or how they're paid, but the warranties are sold with a 90-day money-back guarantee.
