the X99 platform is for the home professional; their CPU is actually slower than Skylake, and its purpose is for software which scales with more than 4 cores.
again i have to point out that even for most softwares that do, the faster, 4 core, 4 thread 6700K can easily keep up.
sure, it's your money. i'm not telling you not to buy it, i'm just asking you if the 6-core would be useful to you.
