Any estimates on how much it weighs?

200hp on 2500lbs isn't all that bad.

200hp on 3500lbs is going to suck ass.

None that I have seen but would be really surprised if it were as low as 2500. The new TC is 3000ish, the old one was 2900.

Even a current gen MX-5 is 2400lbs and this looks to be bigger than that.

I predict civic weight with a DOHC boxer motor rwd, short gearing. Underpowered compared to the mustang/genesis/camaro with similar fuel economy.

Handles great but not enough to pull away from the hot hatches (GTI/MS3)

It will be a flop and unless some clever marketing scheme keep this car afloat, will last 4 years and be done.

The local auto-x and racing clubs will want the car to have factory racing support but I highly doubt it. That's a reason why the miata is so well respected in those ranks.

My predictions are awesome and spot on.

The 3.7 Z motors are crap, above 4000rpm they feel like they're going to disintegrate. I've never driven a nastier V6 in my life, you can feel it all the way up your leg and it'll make you wince.

First time i heard this. My vq35hr sounds and feels heavenly all the way to the top. Then again I'm not accustomed to ferrari's and such like a lot of the people on the internet.

Mine feels fine and drives great. No issues here.

Subaru has already said there will be no turbo engine.

Yeah, that boggles my mind though. Even the 220hp turbo-4 would be a fun engine to put into the car. 200 n/a will be boooooring. Sure some tuners may throw a turbo on, but going FI on a n/a engine is not the easiest.

Are we all talking about the same motor here?

IMHO it's only people that want to act snobbish and arrogant about how "refined" a motor should be that talk smack about the VQ. The VQ is a solid motor and to call it nasty is just not accurate.

come take a spin in my Z.... I can promise you the last thing you will be thinking about is how refined the motor is above 4 grand

How do rate your 2 cars relative to each other? Fun to drive factor, all out performance, daily duties .

I love RWD, and there is no replacement to a true RWD car. For that reason, I love the Z.

The WRX has been more practical (obviously) but also a lot of fun. While the VQ is very steady in delivery, the WRX comes in strong at about 4k. I wanted a FI car that I could tinker with, and I just didn't see the gains from a TT or SC Z, based on the $$$ and time to do it.

Plus, I will have a car now that I can enjoy in the winter (WRX) and the summer (Z).

we still need to meet up.

and put the WRX on E85, throw some more boost at it and have fun

Sorry I disappeared guys, but you guys definitely had some good arguments while I was gone!

Agreed with what most of you guys are saying, not much is known about the FT-86 and it will be underpowered. I've always driven an "underpowered car" (Honda's) so I'm not too spoiled...yet.

The WRX *is* more practical here in the northeast, and I would LOVE to get my hands on one but finding them unmolested, used, and at a reasonable price, is pretty much impossible. There's an 05 Legacy 2.5GT, 5spd, clean, but it has an accident record. Too bad since they only sell for $7k on average (for one with 80k miles).

I've been talking it over with the wife and we're probably going to wait till we find a low mileage 05-06 350z (with the Rev-Up engine) till we take the plunge. There's a clean 08 350z w/36 miles that will probably sell for $17-$18k, but wifey feels uncomfortable spending too much on a used car....

I bought my 08 350z back in march with 6015 miles for $19800. I flew to florida to get it and drove it back up to Cape Cod. If you don't mind traveling you will find a much better deal on the car you want.

At the price range you're looking at a previous accident is a bargaining tool not a deterrent.

A lot of these 'accident reports' are really very minor superficial stuff. I'd at least ask for accident pics and so on before deciding against it

I'm thinking the FT-86 will be more of a Miata-class vehicle than a Z-class vehicle. And of course you can add mad power to Miatas. I refuse to call them Mx-5s lol.

everything about its launch feels like Toyota just doesn't know what they're doing, or knows too well-- not releasing the HP because as soon as it becomes known to be 200hp for certain, everyone will forget about it and nobody will buy it.

Look for a 2009+ WRX. I had a 04 TSX and moved to an 09 WRX. After adding some aftermarket shifter bits, the experience was in every imaginable way improved. Faster, tigher, more practicle (hatch), worth modding, and the same fuel mileage. And you won't get blown away buy a camry

It's hard to take you seriously when you went from a practical "sporty" sedan to a rally car. The former is a grown up car, not really meant to be modded (I know it can be but obviously the aftermarket isn't nearly the size of Subarus). The latter is probably superior in every way performance wise, not as nice interior, definitely meant for racing. I mean what did you expect would happen? The WRX is what you should have bought from day one.

Exactly, and if you want to rag on motor refinement in Nissan RWD sports coupes why not just stick to the KA24D(E) from the 240SX. Granted these things are essentially bulletproof and have proven themselves to be quite receptive to boost (thanks in no small part to rather low stock compression ratios). I think the highest praise I ever got from the sound of my 240 was "sounds like a chainsaw".

If nissan can turbo a juke, this car should have a turbo, however... I don't think that engine can handle the F/I
