Good god, I bought my i5 2500k last year during black friday for 150 at MC. I can't believe 3750K's are 170 already.

Definitely not worth an upgrade though, but still wow.

I just bought my 3570k combo last week with the CPU at 189. Long drive so I'm gonna try to call for a price adjustment. Wish me luck!

I'd rethink the phone call. If you took advantage of the $50 combo deal, you are way ahead. Just buy another proc and the mobo you really wanted...get another $50 deal and then dump the two you don't want on ebay. You should make at least $100-$150 in the process. The 3570k and nearly any z77 board is going for at or more than retail. Crazy!

I just brought my old PC stuff from storage and need to replace the MB, CPU, RAM, and Video card. I'm asking for advice before buying from MC. Need a basic PC for playing movies (720p/1080p mkv) on two 30" LCDs and League of Legends once in a while. This is until I can save up a bit more.

In comparison to Newegg,

CPU = 3570K @MC @$170 (using fan, not OCing yet)
MB = Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Z77 @Newegg (free 8Gig) @$119
Video = Zotac GT620 @Newegg @$59
Memory = @MC??

Problem is I like to get a comparable MB with the CPU to get the $50 off Any help tonight would be great and I can drive to MC tomorrow morning (an hour away).

Do you need a GPU that can play LoL on 2 x 2560x1536 monitors at the same time?

The cheapest "gaming" card that has Dual-Link DVI I can think of is XFX HD6770.

It's $94 on Amazon after $20 rebate.

This guy is getting 82 fps at 1080P on HD5770 in LoL. I am guessing HD6770 will manage 40-50 fps on 1x 2560x1600. You can always return it to Amazon if you aren't satisfied.

If you want to drive 2x 30 inch monitors for games, obviously HD6770 isn't enough.

No, playing games only on 1 screen. Only game I play really is LoL and Heroes of MM3. The zotac I put there was an upgrade from your previous recommendation. Now that I have my PC parts here, I'm ready to put parts in.

Personally, I'd spend $34 more for the GTX560 over the HD6770. This EVGA card seems to support 2x Dual-Link DVI ports. It's $128 after 10% off and $30 MIR on Newegg. I checked a bunch of GTX650/650Ti cards and I can't find any that support dual-link dual-DVI on Newegg. This is why GTX560 is the next best option as HD6850/6870 cards on Newegg don't support 2x DL-DVI (an no 7750/7770/7850 does).

GTX560 is about 56% faster on average than HD6770 for $34 more over the $94 6770.

The Zotac 620 is a weak GPU. I might have recommended the GT430 or Zotac 620 for someone who wanted to 2D but not 3D!

GTX 560 1GB (DX11) -- 119 VP
6770 1GB (DX11) -- 76 VP
GT 620 (OEM) 1GB (DX11) -- 23.9 VP

If you are on a serious GPU budget, I'd go for the HD6770 at minimum. 2560x1600 is a very demanding resolution. Can't take it lightly.

I rarely play the games, more HoMM3 than LoL. It's mainly for video editing, photo editing, big spreadsheets (thus the screen size) and word processing. Oh, and watching tv/movies. HoMM3 is a 2D game I think anything around $100 would be fine.

Would have to shop around MC tomorrow when I drive there. I don't think I'm going to get all the parts there except for the CPU, unless someone knows a good combo that will work for me. That $50 is gas traveling there, hmm....

The CPU/MB combos may actually be $40 off the MB now, it's a little unclear. Either way, you can get open boxed MB's with the discount so you could save even more. Just ask at your local store if they have MBs (and GPUs) open box specials.

Microcenter always seems to have hot deals but they are in store only which sucks since we don't have one

Advertising sleight of hand...decrease the processor price by 10.00, but decrease the amount given off a motherboard/CPU combo by 10.00 too...so it turns out you are paying the same amount as you did before for the combo. It's still a hell of a deal, don't get me wrong, I just hate the marketing BS.

I got the $50 off on Friday. A 3570k + Pro4-M = $229.98...otherwise $279.98. Not sure where the confusion is.

Hm... I wanted to wait out for Haswell, but this is tempting. Does anyone know if I can do a backup/restore in-place upgrade from P35 to Z77 without doing the full OS reinstall? I really really do not want to reinstall all of my software...

Reading about all these killer MicroCenter "in store" deals reminds me of back in the day when everyone was touting killer FRY's local store deals before we got a Fry's in WA state.

Eh... Fry's haven't had a decent combo deal in a couple of years. Oh the days of cheap e4300 + ECS mobo + pin mod = 2.4GHz of cheap goodness. I've decided to wait until Black Friday to see if Microcenter offers a better deal on a combo. BTW, is it true that the CPU/Mobo discount is only $40 now instead of $50?

It is, but they took 10.00 off the price of the processors to compensate...its the same combo price it always has been.
