yeah most def.

but you cant negate the fact that the ps3 is still indeed has many different functions

it may not be the best in those functions. but it does them very well.

surf's the web,blu-ray player, HTPC, game console.. im not sure if it can be used as an instant messanger. i suppose if u want to load up meebo.com. then that 2.

im not tryin to compete. just tryin to stick up for a system.

It is interesting that you bring that up. I have seen those players, but I do not know how reliable they are. I know that many of the players were having trouble reading some of the disks a while back and the PS3 was the only reliable blu-ray player. Has that changed? How do I know that I can trust the player I see with the cheap price tag on the shelf more than the PS3 these days?

With FF XIII coming out on the 360, I am no longer interested in a PS3 but I do want a blu-ray player still and would rather pay the cheaper price tag as long as I can rely on the player to do what I want it to do just as well as the PS3.

Stand-alone Blu-Ray players have gotten much better as profile 2.0 spreads. I haven't heard of any problems but I'm sure there are some out there. Just make sure you get a profile 2.0 Blu-Ray player and you are fine.

I was one of them. I got the arcade for $200 plus guitar hero. PS3 cannot offer itself and guitar hero for as little as the xbox (and mrsskoorb was only on board if GH was in the cards), so it was easy.

Yeah, MS has Sony beat pretty bad on price. Granted, the PS3 has a Blu-ray player; that's how I justified buying mine. But the value of that feature is coming down.

I'm actually about to buy my second 360 (not because of RRoD :roll: I'm on my third 360 due to RRoD ) so I can have one upstairs and one downstairs. Only problem is I'll only be able to stream Netflix to one of them at a time because you have to be signed in to XBL.

The reason? Xbox Live is easily 10x better than PSN. In fact, I hate PSN so much that I refuse to buy games on PS3 that I have the slightest interest in playing multiplayer.

The $4 a month I end up spending on xbox live is money well spent.

bingo. People argue "but PS3 is FREE!!!! oh mah gah!!!" But if its complete garbage, whats the point?

Any multi-platform game that i want is purchased on the 360 100% of the time and since there are no must-have exclusives on the pee3, it sits unplugged and dusty in my tv stand.

Yep. Some games I do enjoy on the PS3 though. GTAIV, Uncharted and Far Cry 2 were great PS3 games. The problem is that the PSN is so unbelievably broken that I refuse to use the PS3 for online gaming, which means the 360 still gets 97% of my gaming time.

Instead of making the PS3 this awe-inspiring wonder machine that does a little bit of everything I wish they would have focused on certain areas like gaming so that it could be head and shoulders better than the 360. Sony if you're listening, for the PS4, instead of that super useful printer port how about a fully functional online service?

Most of it isn't ads, there really is a lot of interesting content in there if you just take a second to look. They had a free live video of "Tribute" from Tenatious D there yesterday.

I don't understand why everyone says this. Sure, there are ads, but they are links to actual content, and their placement generally makes sense (although I do wish it didn't default to the Spotlight section). How else are you supposed to find out about new DLC or XBLA games? Plus, the way it's setup, I feel like it's a lot less intrusive than the ads that were on the main blade and marketplace blade on the old setup.

It's not like the dash is rife with Burger King and Coca-Cola ads or something.

I am a huge SONY fan. I own both a 360 and PS3. I am also a huge JRPG fan. That being said...I like the 360 better.

I guess it will be ~2010 before the PS3 takes over my loyalty. BTW, I have a decent PC (q6600 @ 3.2GHz, 4870) and I now place the PC at the bottom of my list.

Guess I like my PS3 cause I don't play online with it. Speaking of, I haven't turned it on since August/September. Think I'll use it to watch Dark Knight though, it'll be my first Blu-ray bought disc (I got 6 already, but they were all free and are still in their original plastic packaging).
