Looks like a great deal. Specs of 500 brightness and 800 contrast aren't great, but the price is awesome. Once you add in shipping (42 bucks for me, and tax and the 10 dollar California special fee, this comes to a little over a grand. Now, there are other 37inch monitors available in the 1050 range, but I have seen none that support 1080p.

The only thing stopping me is the question about wuality and warranty. Anyone have information about Emprex quality or warranty? Anything would be helpful.

There are a few owners in the avs forums.

Interesting to note: Does not officially seem to have HDCP support, though sending a signal through HDMI DVI seems to work. The SD picture quality is a little subpar. Also, does not support 1080p input. It takes 720p and 1080i and upconverts it. It can maybe take a 1080p signal at around 45 hz or something, people have differeing reports.

Still a great price. I am still looking for warranty info. Nothing on the Emprex website about it.

I can't wait for 37" 1080p prices to drop to $899, I just hope I won't be waiting a while.

Preferrably Westinghouse or Sceptre and accepts 1080p natively.

If you see this thing in person you might not find it such a good deal. The picture quality is about the worse you can find. The reliability record of Emprex is also about the worse.

You can look at them at Fry's

Still a decent deal for screen realestate, but no direct 1080p input kills it for me.

AFAIK Emprex may be one of Fry's "house brands" since I don't see them sold elsewhere, kind of like AirLink+. Also, Rosewill ==> Newegg.

I don't have a Fry's nearby. Can you say if the same picture quality comments hold true when used simply as a computer monitor at 1920x1200 via DVI?

I never trust Emprex brand. My friends and I have had many bad experience with Emprex products (CD, DVD burners, portable DVD players, etc.)

My Dell 2005 FPW display with an LG monitor in it developed dead pixels a year after having it. Furthermore my $2000+ XPS M1710 laptop with an LG display also had dead pixels upon arrival. Since Sony doesn't even make their own panels it's meaningless to even bring them up. All the Samsung displays I've owned have always had light leakage problems.
