Anybody know where I can rent a 370Z for a couple days? Anywhere in the lower mainland would be great, mainly wondering if I can rent it from a dealership. I just want to know early so I know where to go in May for my prom car.

Not likely anywhere if you're under 25, impossible if you're under 18. Canada may be different than the states though.

Good luck getting someone to rent you one of those if you are under 18, you have a slight chance under 25

I see a Chevy HHR or Cobalt in your future if anything my friend. As a frequent business traveler that's usually my only choice, with a sprinkle of Impala or Gran Marquis if you're feeling really posh.

I'd be surprised if any rental car company rents a 370z... For some reason a 370z is more random than an Elise to me...

None of the big 3 (Hertz, Avis, National/Alamo/Enterprise) got 370z, at least in the southwest area aka the shittiest fleet in the nation...not counting Vegas. I did see a couple of 350z running around, but those were offloaded by Nissan back in 08?...I had one as my staff car during 08, for about 3 days.

The closest you are going to get is a Infiniti G37, which all 3 companies have, though some of the smaller airports may be more limited in their fleet selection.

In other news, the new 2011 jellybean M37 showed up, but I believe that car is limited to certain regions. FL + CA, generally the best selection in the industry. The S550, A8, LS460, etc. are all in those areas. Yes, I did have an Audi S4 assigned to me once....best company car I've ever had.

Edit-OP may also want to consider independent rental agencies. They usually have a selection of exotics like the Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, etc. Many also have "normal" sports cars. Some can be rented hourly, so are great for the prom, parties, etc.

How can you rent something like an S4? I looked around here but everyone just pointed me to a Cayman for 350/day.

I think i saw one parked in the lot of Exotic Auto Spa & Car Rental - Richmond, BC - 604-273-4847

But they WILL NEVER rent you anything of you are under 25.

You are going to have to find someone who owns one you can borrow if you want to be able to drive one. No one will rent you a car that expensive if you are under 25.

These were the S4 cabrios maybe 5 years ago...(2005-6ish) This was when the A6 were introduced to the rental fleet, and Audi probably threw in a few S4s they couldn't sell. This is probably why you see these weird end of the year fleet mixes...for example, model changes/redesigns, rental fleets gets a ton of the old models they don't sell.

I haven't seen a new S4 for rent in years, at least not with the major companies. Even the A4's got phased out 2 years ago, some markets you may see them (particularly Enterprise which does insurance replacement) will have some variation in their luxury models.

Sometimes, you get those cars that are accidentally ordered...like the one time a WRX got mixed in with a bunch of base Imprezas. That was interesting.

Nation-wide campaigns, like the Nissan Leaf rentals, are in-part publicity for the manufacturer. Usually available in select cities.

Edit-I have to retract my previous statement regarding the S4. The Shelby GT350 was the best car I've ever been assigned...er, allowed to drive. Had to prep them for auction, which entailed putting as much mileage on them as possible. I don't count the ZHZ, because the one I had was broken. I debated taking it to a track day, but decided my job was more important.

17-18 years old... don't think a dealer will let you test drive anything, much less to rent for a week.

None of the mainstream rental companies stock sports cars like that. Discount certainly doesn't, though we do have the BMW 135i. That's the closest thing we stock to a two door roadster. High performance vehicles are just too much of a liability. We actually did used to have Mustang convertibles five years ago. Way before my time. Soft tops kept getting damaged though. Budget had them last year but I haven't seen them in a while.

You can't rent a car anyway. Minimum age is 21 with a $15/day underage fee on top of coverage. The best you can rent at that age is a cargo van. Even then you have to be 18.

You're best bet is to just rent a limo with a driver.

Apparently the terms of the Shelby lease was each car had to have a minimum amount of miles driven....not sure why, but all the staff were told to drive them as much as possible. In the beginning these cars were babied, octane booster, polish with microfiber towels, etc.

Towards the end, automatic car wash, 87 octane, and doing donuts in the parking lot. Most went to auction without a lot of rear tires left. One of our guys got caught drag racing, and had his impounded....though the GT350 wasn't that fast, very loud, but a stock corvette was faster.

I know a guy from my high school who rented a Lambo for prom. Needless to say, he had hook-ups.

Just get a limo like everyone else does. There's a reason everyone else does it.

For the record, if you are under 25 but over 18, ANY car rental company will be more than happy to rent you any car in their fleet, as long as you can document your ability to pay for the car in full with cash.

Sorry but this is completely wrong. As I've said, I work for a major car rental company. Here are the strait facts.

For starters ALL rental companies require a major credit card to rent with a typical $500 security hold. That's non-negotiable. We only take cash holds for insurance clients. The hold isn't just to make sure you can pay for the rental. It also covers parking tickets, red light cameras, other fines, and damage to the vehicle not covered by the insurance.

Secondly, minimum age in Canada and the USA is 21 to rent a car. That's also non-negotiable. We only drop the underage fee in very rare cases if you are under 25. A bribe doesn't constitute a special case. It doesn't pay off for the rental agent because if something happens, it's on them. They could get fired or sued. Car rental is a very litigation heavy industry. Everything is heavily documented. Hell, even I had to pay the dumb fee when I rented last year, and I work there. It covers the higher cost of the liability insurance we pay for on all the cars. The insurance you buy is only collision coverage. Mandatory liability is included with the price unless you're under 25.

18 year olds can only rent commercial vehicles such as cargo vans and cube trucks. We don't rent luxury and high performance vehicles to anyone under 25, period.

This applies to all rental places including Discount, Budget, Enterprise, and National. You can't fool the people that work at these places because chances are, they've heard it all. Nobody will budge on the non-negotiable stuff because its their ass on the line.
