3930K has absolutely unleashed my two GTX 670 4GB

Going from PCI-E 2.0 X8 to 2.0 X16, I noticed a large increase in MAX FPS, but no increase in minimums at all. It gets highs of around 150-200 now where before it would top out at around 130. There is a bandwidth test on some site that shows the increased bandwidth shows in the higher framerates due to increased info streaming through the bus or something like that.

Hmmm, wonder if my minimums are being raised by a higher CPU clock speed, and the addition of two more cores and my maximums are being raised by increased PCI-E bandwidth. Something to think about for sure.

i have i7 950 3.1 ghz ,,,, on stock clock can i handle single gtx 680 ? or even gtx 670 s in sli ???

Yes you can handle a 680 or 670 sli as long as you PSU is up to it but unless you're going to overclock you're really limiting your performance. Sometimes my overclock goes back to stock if i have a power outage and I notice it immediately in games. your cpu is good for 4ghz easily with a decent air cooler and as long as you follow a decent guide (eg here at anand) its really safe. In arma 2 my frame rate is 40-45fps at stock and 65fps overclocked. BF3 frame rate is insane and usage 99% all the time while producing 100-200fps. (In multiplayer with all visuals maxed) unless I apply vertical synching.

no i will not OC gpus

i have corsair 850 wat ... for 2 670 + I7 950 it will be enough because i will not OC anything on my pc ^^

Well I won't spend more than £150 on case despite the fact I could spend twice as much, it's a case of diminishing returns. A case should last 10 years if not much longer unless it's literally under water where it would rust its a metal box with few moving parts (fans) and a few connectors/wires.

The thing about cases is that (usually) a good case will last you 5 or more years, where as video cards can be upgraded constantly, or at least every 2-3 years to stay current. So why not blow a fair chunk of change on your longest lasting component ?

Of course at the same time, I understand why you would want to spend most of your money on video cards, we are afterall playing games with our computers not just looking at the cases all day long : )

great now I actually considered a 3930k. Op your setup is amazing, but I need to stay away from this thread lol. Wonder how planetside 2 will do with this setup
