Nice deal on the Compaq. I bought an earlier model last December for about the same price AR (I think it was the 7210US). It had an AMD processor, 1GB with 120GB disk. I gave it to my wife for Xmas ... actually pretty impressed with the quality and features for a "cheap" laptop. Don't know that it could withstand the abuse that I dish out (aging road warrior) but for the $$, these are good laptops. Very nice displays.

One nice accessory to look for is a USB powered cooling pad. I turned up my nose at these until I was given one. It is an Antec and definitely cools one of these down, especially if you are setting it on your lap. You can find one for $20 on sale...worthwhile IMO.

I second that. I have a Targus pad that was FAR (gosh I miss those days!) and it really helps.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but before any of you think of buying this, check out the Best Buy's in your area, they are offering a kick ass 4GB, Core 2 Duo, 512mb dedicated video card, for $450, if you can't get $450 have them price match to another store...I posted a whole list of BB's selling them at that price in the other hot deals thread

Also if you print out that $100 coupon I also posted you can get it for $350 + tax. It's a steal at that price.

Looks like Newegg also sells the Compaq laptop computer that Staples will have on special. Newegg sells it for $499 after a $30 MIR plus $16.52 in shipping. There are no reviews of this laptop on Newegg's site. Here is a link to Newegg's Web site for mor information on this laptop. Linky

I have no complaints. Just a basic, small laptop with decent specs. Though if you were looking at this laptop, the time to buy would have been last week, as it was 399.99 at bestbuy with no rebate.
