3D Mark 2001 and games crashing :(

UT2004 crashes and gives me this:

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2004-02-10_03.01]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1835 MHz with 767MB RAM
Video: RADEON 9100 (6307)

General protection fault!

History: ProcessPartitions <- KWorldStepSafeTime <- KTickLevelKarma <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=3) <- TickLevel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

I seem to have problems like this with games such as:
*BF1942
*Tom Clancy Games
*Home World 2

I have not however , had a problem with Medal of Honor. The other games play fine, then just crash. I have patched all things that I know.

In UT2004, I just tried not moving and it dosen't crash. I can spin around and shoot too. When it crahes, it loops sounds.

Passes prime95 for 8 hours.

9100...and its an AMD.

IIRC, the 9100 is only a DX 8 card and not a fast one at that. Here's mine for reference:

P4 2.4c @ 3.2 (275 fsb if I think) HT enabled
1 GB Golden Dragon PC3500 dual channel
Radeon 9700 Pro

I got 5100 some the last time I ran it.

If it helps any, My geforce 4 Ti 4400 gets about 900, while my 9800 pro gets a few above 5000.

Same computer.

It's all about the DX9.

FPS games are wonderful with it.(My computer) The only problem I have is with DirectX games. They run perfectly, but then just crash. OpenGL games are outstanding.

Have you installed the latest Direct X? Have you installed the latest video card drivers? Have you installed the latest drivers for your motherboard/any other device?

9100 is only DX8.1 not 9 which is what 3dmark03 is for.

Yes, It does not help. Even 3Dmark '01 crashes durring the lobby scene. Tom clancy games crash, BF1942 crashes , ect...


OTOH, MOHAA & MOHAAS run great.

Before running the test, make sure to disable AA & AF from the ctrl panel, terminate a few services (system tray, task manager) no needed by windows, get the latest video drivers, install the latest chipset drivers. Hope this helps.
