3D Mark LOW on NIIICE system Why?

My score was like 2500! Why is it soooo bad!!? In Quake 3 Arena I get 110+ FPS in 1600x1200! I don't understand it.

Install the latest Via 4 in 1 drivers and all should be fine.

Now I get about 3985 3D Marks does that sound about right with my system? How can I improve it, I was thinking of getting PC133 RAM. Would that help?

PC133 ram won't do a thing, and there are Via 4 in 1 drivers for Win2k, make sure they're installed, as well as removing any "residue" from old video card drivers.

Nvidias reference drivers should be used. If your card isn't a refrence card (which i doubt), then you have to use the Asus drivers.

Parud, just curious, what are your new FPS numbers in Quake at 1600x1200 that go along with you nice new 3Dmark numbers? Are they anywhere close to 260 fps (5983/2500*110)?

Your score is very low, I get higher than that with a 600Mhz PIII and a TNT2 Ultra. Get the NVidia Detonator 6.34 drivers from Here
, and install the 4.25 4in1 drivers. With your system, your score should be 6000-7000. Oh, and PC133 will make a difference, just not all that much of one, maybe 40 points.

I am getting 3523 on my main system (Koukla the Cat) and 2770 on my second one (Oscar Fish). I am running Windows 2000 Pro.

After installing the Nvidia Drivers I am at 3666 on my main machine.

I installed the VIA 4-1 and now Windows 2000 does not find my CD-R and my machine won't complete the 3D Mark 2000 Bench....

Why do you care about your 3DMark??? Ahh I don't get it, it's the worst benchmark ever, why do people get so upset if their score isn't good?? If you're Q3 score is good(which it was), and you aren't seeing any slowdowns in D3D games, what's the big deal?? 3Dmark, in a word, sucks.

Anyone have an idea why my CD-R disappeared???

I got it to work, I had to delete the IDE controller in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows 2000 find it again and self install drivers..... So far working as ususal, my CD-R was primary on the second IDE controller

Too bad they did away with the racing game from 3DMark99. Think they'll come out with a sequel in 2001? I was the BEST at that game. Nobody could beat my high score.

I knew I would see some say "Why, or how terrible" 3DMark is, but the initial poster is using it for one of the best reasons. Sure he can't "PLAY" 3DMark, but he can use the score to see how his system is supposed to score, by comparing it to similiar systems.

If his score is only 60% of what others are getting, plain and simple he has something setup wrong in his system!!! Don't blow it off as a useless benchmark. It looks like it's working for him very well. Now he needs to make some changes, and keep testing until it's right.

Imagine if you would that you have a new car. It seems to run great, gets you from here to there a lot better than your old car, and gets decent gas mileage. Must be fine right?
Now you take it to the dragstrip and make some passes on it. Turns out it is much slower than similiar cars. You then make the little adjustment, and now it runs like all the others, and has much more power, and gets much better gas mileage. So one useless test at the dragstip helped out the car that never gets to go fast regularly.

yeah, you guys are forgetting why we use 3dmark in the first place. It is to tweak our systems to their full potential. If you do something to increase your 3dmark, then it will increase other games as well. It is actually a really helpful tool when setting up and tweaking a new computer.

RobsTV, no, you don't understand why I don't like 3DMark. I find nothing wrong with benchmarking a system, but 3DMark just isn't good as a benchmark. You can have a low 3DMark, but your other scores will be great. What is at fault? 3DMark. And it is NOT good for comparing systems. Do you really think that a GTS is 3x as fast as a Voodoo5? Benchmarking is just fine, but 3DMark is simply the wrong one to use.
