That V5 6000 reminds me , of the Beta Creative Labs AWE 32 cards . I wonder if anyone here can remember those cards ;-)

Well, my 3dfx collection was never so large. Limited to just the following (that I actually paid with my own money).

Guillemot Maxi-Gamer 3D (Voodoo 1)
Creative Labs 12mb V2 SLI
3dfx STB 12mb V2 SLI
Wicked3D 12mb V2

I jumped on the TnT2Ultra bandwagon when the V3 (really "Banshee II") came out and it didn't seem to be that great of an improvement from my then current SLI setup. The V2 was 3dfx's greatest achievement, bar none.

The Creative cards are the only ones I still have now. Used them for over 3.5 straight years before I finally retired both cards about two years ago when I stopped playing Diablo II (the last great Glide game). Thinking back, the $550 I spent for both cards in 1998 was actually a pretty good deal considering the mileage I've gotten out of them.

Anyway, I've decided recently that I'll never sell these card off. They're officially in my private hardware "hall of fame" now. I just wish I kept the boxes for them.

Amazing collection you have there, but ive spotted a card that you dont have.
A Voodoo2 8mb. You have the 12mb version, but not the 8mb.

an oddball card you (original poster) might want to look for is the 3dfx Velocity 100. There were both AGP and PCI versions, they were aimed at "business desktops." Basically, it was a 16MB Voodoo3 2000 with one TMU disabled (in software) but a registry hack enabled it, and the card could very easily be overclocked to V3-2000 and sometimes even 3000 speeds.

I had one of these... for what it was worth they were a great deal in early 1999. They were about 2/3 the cost of a V3-2000 and were only available as white box OEM models.

I think that was the same as the V3 1000(which he has).

My first 3Dfx card was an 8mb Voodoo2. Paid like $150 for it, new
Upgraded that to a Voodoo3 AGP w/TV out (never used the TV out), still have that card.
Upgraded that to a Voodoo5. Still have that one too.
Also have 2x Creative Voodoo2 12mb cards with enough cables to run separately or in SLI

I'm trying to remember the 6mb's claim to fame; it had an extra 2 megs of texture memory, right?

That's right. The Canopus Pure3D - by far a HUGE hit!
I had one too... I was after an 8MB Voodoo2 but they'd sold out (brand new) so I got the Canopus instead. If I'd got the V2 I might have kept it longer.

I thought that the Velocity 100 was the extended name for the V-100 chips on the Voodoo4/5. I`m sure it is, i read it somewhere a while ago.

The Velocity 100 was a crippled V3 chip; the chip in the V4/5 was the VSA(Voodoo Scalable Arcitecture)-100.
