3DFX is back BABY!!!!!!!

We have been informed that about 90% of the former employees of 3DFX will be working for this company, according to our source 3DPower will be debuting with a graphics card called the 3DPower Absolute, which is believed to be based around the 3DFX RamPage graphics chipset - SLI may not be gone after all. The PCB of the card will be black with gold componets seated in a nifty wooden box.

I'm pretty sure NVIDIA owns all the patents and designs for the Rampage and all the other 3DFX chipsets..

and NVIDIA won't shoot them selves in the foot..

So that means that if 600 went to work for Nvidia then 3dfx must have had 6000 employees :Q. Lets not of course all of a sudden all 3dfx assets sold to Nvidia would suddenly revert back to 3dfx.

Wait, is this new "3dfx" going to make their own chipsets again (and use the voodoos) or are they going to make their own "versions" of GeForce 2, Radeon or Kyro II chipsets?

I can't see them sticking with the Voodoos, not even the V5 chip, as it's already too old...

This is all a bit too much as I was just about to have closure on this subject. The day 3dfx was bought was one of the top three saddest days in my life. But hehe. What is interesting is that Nvidia bought every patent that was on paper, meaning that whatever was an idea floating in someones head wasn't bought. This idea might have been so good and revolutionary, that they said "to hell with it" and sold 3dfx + old Voodoo tech. and will now start a new company with that kickarse idea. Farfetched, but I am an optimist and only time will tell. I have made a vow however to never to buy Nvidia, and this might end up costing me an XBox. Can't wait for the Radeon 2, whether superior or inferior to GF3/Ultra.

They were having money problems and released some crappy products. They missed some product cycles and came out with a great card about 6 months too late. That's all they needed to put them under.

Most companies make people sign contracts stating that any ideas that they came up while being employed by that particular company the above mentioned company gets the patent and not the individual who thought of it.

ie all Nvidia has to do is drag to the employ to court and prove the patent is legally theirs.
