3dfx Rampage Specs

I was wondering if anyone could point me to system specs of Rampage. I had them yesterday, and now I lost them and can't find them anywhere.

I'm sure you'll find out officially soon enough. Be patient. Any and all the specs you find should be taken with a grain of salt until 3dfx makes their official announcment.

Correct. Keep in mind that any Rampage specs you see now are not Rampage specs. We haven't released Rampage specs.

Keep in mind each chip should be quite smaller and consume a lot less power than each VSA, assuming all the rampage chips are on a .18um die. The 8 chip monster will probably be about as big as the V5 6k (if not a big smaller, depending on the amount of RAM it will have).

8 chips, man...even at .18 process it's still going to suck tons of power. Also, if it does have 8 chips, does this mean that the memory will be split 8 ways, like what is done on the current VooDoo line? Sounds like the card will have just a mess of RAM chips as well. Kinda like if Ford would make a car with an engine for each wheel, and each engine having it's own gas tank. Sounds sloppy to me, but each to theit own I guess.

Guthwulf, when people say 8 chips, they mean 4 rampage GPU's and 4 sage geometry chips. The rampage is rumoured to have <25 million transistors. Each chip should consume half the power of a VSA-100 (depending on clock).

Its 4 chips for hardware T&amp;L and 4 (Rampage) for 3D texture rendering. Or, it would be cool (or would it? ) to have 2 GPU's for T&amp;L, 2 for FSAA alone, and 4 for 3D rendering. Hell, just slam 1GB of 500MHz (Q)DDR-RAM and 16-chips!

200MHz core clock
.18 process
4 redering pipelines
4 mtexels/mpixel
Sage T&amp;L chip - 60 mtriangles/sec
200MHz DDR RAM
avialable in 1 rampage x 1 sage/2x2/4x4 confurations

I'm pretty sure that is what was posted before. Also, they are apt to change when official specs are released.

I read some specs just the other day stating that the only board using more than 1 sage chip will be the Quad-rampage card.

1 Rampage + 1 Sage
2 Rampage + 1 Sage
4 Rampage + 2 Sage (but damn 4 would own)

Depending on the power of the nV20, these configurations would make sense. If the nV20 turns out more powerful than previously expected, they could slap on a second Sage on the dual-chip board.

KnightBreed, just cause the die size would be smaller doesnt mean the entire package will be smaller, it would most likely be quite smilar in size compared to the VSA100's.
You still need space for all the pins and circuitry(WTF??? sp?).

Knightbreed, if they intend on he 2 chip board competing with NV20, they'd better put 2 sage chips on it, cause I think I read that the NV20 will be able to process about 125 mtrianlges/sec, 2 sage chips is 120, so if they want the 2 chip versoin to be mainstream and compete well, they will probably need 2. This is supposing that both the Rampge specs and the NV20 specs are accurate, which they probably aren't.

Deeko: I'm just passing some info I had recently heard. For 3dfx's sake, I hope they do indeed use 2 Sage chips on the mainstream 2 GPU card. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
