So I built my 1st ever PC last week and have run memtest86, prime95, and 3dmark05. I am trying to run something to stress test my video card because I want to make sure in case I need to RMA it. I started by running 3dmark01 on default settings but someone said that is more CPU intensive.

I ran 3dmark05 and got a score of 2782 or so. I searched the forums and it seems like that's ok. However, I want something that is not just a benchmark, more like prime95 but that tests the video card. I ran ATITool and checked for artifacts for 5 minutes and nothing came up.

Basically want some ideas to stress test my video card. All my settings are stock(no OC) and my rig is in my sig.

Just remove all of the CPU tests from the 3DMark tests and make sure its only running graphics benchmarks. If you have a newer video card, I would suggest using the latest 3DMark program to make sure it stress tests all of the features your graphics card is capable of.

Just put it on loop and run for as long as you can. If it crashes early, then it is most likely a heating or driver issue. Not always though, but those are the most common cases.

Thx, problem is on 3dmark05 I am using the free version so I can't change any settings and don't think I can loop it either. I can loop on 3dmark01 but I was told it's more CPU intensive. Also, whatever I end up running would 12 hours be good enough to stress test?

12 hours is more than enough to stress test it. Even running it for 6 hours should be good and is probably longer than any gaming session you have right!?

Play FarCry for an hour at highest settings. It's brutal, if there is a weakness, FarCry will make it break.
