Aphex, If you can do without the push feature turn it off. It was killing my battery, with it off I get three times the battery life.

Ya know, i've been noticing this as well. Now a week in, the battery seems to be lasting longer and longer every day. Hmmm.

Hmmm, well I kinda wanted Push as I signed up for Mobile Me primarily for that feature I'll turn it off today and notice if things get better.

It's tempting, but doubling my phone bill by switching to AT&T from Sprint and losing 3G in the process is a no-go. I'll hopefully score a Treo 800w Sunday.

I mean, the iPhone is really, REALLY tempting. If I could get 450 minutes, data, unlimited text and insurance for $65 a month I would go for it. As is, that would run me $90/mo before taxes and insurance, if it's even possible to get that on AT&T.

I have 700min, unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited nights and weekends. 200 text a month and unlimited data. All for 69.95 a month. Oh and I got rollover. There is NO INSURANCE on iPhones.

I have 2 phones, 1500 shared minutes, unlimited data on one phone, 200 text on the other, unlimited mobile-to-mobile, unlimited nights and weekends, for 89.95. I also have unlimited data EVDO for my laptop for 59.95. Last cycle we had over 2700 minutes used total with no extra charges at all. I will stay with Sprint/Nextel, they have been good to me.

Yeah on Sprint we get like 4,500 shared min (unlimited from 7 on), full EVDO on 2 Treo phones, unlimited text, MMS, etc. all for like 99 bucks (for 4 lines including two full data phones). God I want an iPhone but ATT is by far the worst of the carriers in the US (and that aint saying much) plus they are one of the chief warrentlesss wiretappers I believe
Because of that Im hopefully gonna get a BBerry Bold.

"Think Different" indeed Apple. They should have gone carrier neutral like OpenMoko, Apple could have forced that since they hold the power.

Not to straight up diss OpenMoko, but well, yikes - http://www.vimeo.com/1366042?pg=embed&sec=1366042

To the OP. It's worth noting that jailbroken apps were at least 4x more unstable when the first jailbreaking occurred. It's not exactly fair to be penalizing independent developers, most of whom have not had a very long time with the SDK, and with "so-so" documentation and no way to discuss development legally as it is all under NDA.

I think you might be mistaken as to my complaint. I by no means meant to implicate the independant developers were at fault in this debacle, as this is clearly an issue with the phone and its firmware (Apple)

Once I turned PUSH mail off for my work (Exchange) account, battery life was good again. Where I am, I don't get as good a signal on 3G, so I have it turned off for now.

Yea Push seems to destroy the battery. It's too bad really as it's a fantastic feature.

Though doesn't Apple provide all of the hardware support, not AT&T?

When your within your return policy, you still have the option of returning the phone and buying a new one. Outside that return policy, its all about Apple.

So I called the store a little while ago. He confirmed its a 30 day return policy, the 16gb Black is on 2-3 week backorder, while the 16gb White is only on a 3 day backorder. He even said some of the 16GB White's have been shipping the next day.

Sweet.

Think i'll go in tomorrow and order the White.

I purchased a white 16GB model on launch weekend and haven't had any problems with it. No stuck pixels, no faulty black rendering...

I tested everything at this site

The only quirk I have noticed is that it sometimes jumps into a random application when plugging in the headphones and the phone being a bit sluggish at times.

Other than that I love it. Get a new one... Hopefully it will be better than your first ones.

Just be sure to check the order before you swipe your credit card. I thought I ordered a white 16GB yesterday. I even had a conversation with the guy taking my order on how a co worker of mine ordered one on Monday, and it shipped the next day.

When I got home, I get a conformation email saying I ordered a black 16GB. I'm really starting to hate at&t.

Indeed. The one requirement I have in a phone is that it must do push e-mail. I've been eyeing the new iPhone, but it looks like it's a no-go.

Does Push still eat up battery when it is enabled but not used for any of the apps and set to manual?

I decided to cancel the order on the black 16GB, and ordered a white yesterday. I just found out that it shipped that same day!

I don't think Fedex delivers on Sunday here, so I'll sneak out get it Monday morning.

Another dude ordered a black 16GB, and I plan to check & see when his ships.

Just a quick update. Things on my 8gb Black 3G have settled down quite a bit. Much less freezing, battery life has improved, and AT&T has stabilized the 3G network around here. That being said, I still don't trust this one, so I went over to AT&T and ordered a White 16gb last friday, should ship today or tomorrow I hope (everyone in front of me shipped yesterday).

So i got the new phone, so far everything seems to be working perfect. No dead pixels, nor stuck sub pixels (YEA!!), and everything seems pretty snappy. The screen even seems to do a better job on the color/gradient test, so thats nice as well.

I actually really like the look of the White compared to the black I just had. Its nice to not have to constantly clean it No cracks that I can see either, but considering the screen is pristine, even if I get a few small ones I won't complain.
