not done any major benchmarks but 3dmark2001 run thru fine a few times

could do with better mem as crucial stick will be gettin to limit soon.

What vcore???

Also there are no incompatability issues with that Epox mobo and corsair ram....so it must be bad...You tried to boot using the 1:1 mem ratio you are using now? Try Voltage increase? Epox mobos seem to undervolt about everything!!!

Are you going to prime test this??? Cause I can run 3dmark2k1se about 4-5fsb higher (2.8ghz) then I am at with same voltage and get it to pass...Doesn't mean she will pass prime95 test...

Nice oc.....definitely try to get that corsair xms 3000 to work...I have seen it personally when dropped to cas 2.5,3,3,6 run at 440mhz ddr...On my epox mobo I could get it to run but even with 2.8v vdimm I had some restart issues....I think it is pretty much the epox mobo which was picky with my pold pc2700 kingamx that my asus mobo ran at 410mhz ddr would barely run over 370mhz ddr...

You might want to bump down your voltage or your CPU is gonna fry (1.775v is a bit high)

I wouldn't push it over 1.8vcore or so for sure, I know because I did. Now I am running into stability issues with it (Duvie and Thugsrook both had same problem also). I am all the way down to 2.133 @ 1.75vcore and I am not totally sure this is stable long-term. At this voltage I use to be stable at 2.4. I once had this processor stable at 165fsb with my watercooler connected (but it was at 1.85vcore - which read 1.90vcore sometimes) and this is when the damage was done I think.

Side note: I ordered a new processor tonight because I am not ready to run this one at 1.6 and be happy about it........

Yep, and it's because of yours, Duvie's and Thugsrook's findings that this community found that anything over 1.75v is dangerous if your looking to hold on to your cpu for a while. So Acanthus, you're probably pretty safe but you've only been running it for two months, you could very well get another few or longer before you see problems, who knows. I personally won't run mine that high unless I'm testing.

well i backed off to 2.8ghz at 1.6v for the time being till i can sort some beter cooling. think i hit the limit with the chip at around 3.08ghz at 1.85v in bios although it only reads 1.78. gona take this corsair ram back because im gettin no joy still.any recommendations for ay other ram. they got samsung 2700, crucial 2700 or corsair 2700 . dunno which 1 to go with??

If you're thinking better cooling is gonna help, you might be disappointed. When you run outta v-core, you're pretty much at the end. Your v-core reads lower cause Epox boards tend to undervolt. Also, I'd try another stick of the Corsair, the XMS stuff is some awesome ddr, you may have gotten a bad stick. Getting XMS3000 or 3200 will help getting good memeory speeds, too. HTH! Godd luck!

Intel has clearly stated that anything over 1.75 is *not* suitable for the P4... I would figure people would have more respect for thier $160 CPUs... geez... scoring a couple points higher on some benchmark isnt worth having your CPU burn in in 3 weeks... even if it is "stable" when you first run it.

duh

If you're not happy @ 2.8 Ghz you will never be happy. Use your computer and enjoy it. Those few extra benchmark points you get out of pushing it further are not worth anything.

I wouldn't run it over 1.65v, or so. Sh1t, you overclocked it from 2.26 to 2.8. Think about it, they don't even sell 2.8 chips.

Congrats!! I hit 3.07GHz with 1.8v on my 2.4a but I decided that was too much juice and I am now running it @ 2.7GHz stock voltage.

well i got the corsair ram changed and it works fine now i always thought was broke ever since i first tried it.

the pc runs great. just need to decide which is better to run now?
i can run 2.8ghz at 1.6v but the ram is struggling when set to 4:5 > 412ddr so ill have to either drop the cpu speed or run 1:1 which limits the memory a fair bit.

benched this ram @ddr400 c2 was showing 3140/3140 in mem on sandra 2002 just need to get it stable now

Nice.. what kind of watercooling setup? I'm looking into one of those for a summer project. I don't know if I should wait for dual channel DDR though (aka Granite bay?)
