... also, I am certain that Intel will accelerate things, if/when AMD actually manage to get Hammer out in Volume. So I'd be confident that my windmill will last me for another 6 odd months.

Word on the street was originally 2Q03, now it's 2H03. It doesn't show up on the "official" Intel roadmaps, partly because the "official" roadmaps only extend to 1H03.

As for ramping confidence, answer me this: why would the Prescott get pushed back a quarter or two, when Intel is working their tails off moving everything else forward?

They are obviously pushing the prescott back after reassessing what they need to do to keep up with the hammer. The delay of the hammer I feel certain is the reason for this....

I mean cmon....They don't need the prescott to beat tbreds and their phantom chips....I mean really the best amd has out is a 2200+ and intel is leaps ahead of them with the p4 2.8ghz now. Why do they need to keep ramping up and cutting sales of the other chips.

actually the best AMD has out is the 2400, and intel is hardly leaps and bounds ahead of amd. Yes Intel is faster, but leaps and bounds, cmon.

wow this is the first time i will agree with you kell without a flamewar Im sure northwood will get to 3.2GHz, 3.333GHz(possible) with there impressive scaling architecture. So I wont be suprised if the prescott comes in April-jun (Q2-2003).

Well intel will be exactly 1GHz faster then amd in a month so i think that would fall into leaps and bounds As for now $188 for a Retail 2.4GHz/533 and $237 Retailed 2.53GHz/533 is very impressive, with OEM 2400+ @ $200 kinda laging behind (EDIT) btw Sudheer Anne the 2400+ is for preorder not out now

Really!!! Where the heck is it then??? Not one person in anandtech other then anandtech has even shown they have one...Pricewatch shows majority of places now saying eta 10/29 for them....

HUh??? As far as I am concerned that means around these parts the best is the 2200+.....

Show me some ppl who have it or where you can get one right now!!! And I will stand corrected, but considering the dynamo they are supposed to be ocing not one report here of someone doing it!!! Funny huh....


p4 2.8 vs 2200+ is getting to be a big leap...not to mention ocing ability and then it is out of touch!!!
