It sounds like a 3.1 MP camera that interpolates to 4mp (much like my 3.1 MP Fuji can interpolate to 6 mp).

Seems pretty cheap though, even for a 3mp camera.

It's a big ole clunky thing and it's Mustek. If you want a digicam for this price try to get the D-550 or like an A40/60.

Stay away from mustek. The zoom is worthless - if you are going to use a digi zoom, do it on your computer - the interpolation algorhythm is scads better. The lenses are of poor quality, and you could seriously injure passerbys with the sheer volume and weight of this cam.

No optical zoom, just digital.... fuhgedaboudit.
Not a true 4MP, effective MP is only 3.

If you haven't got a good quality lens, you might as well not take the picture... digital cameras are one product where you really do
get what you pay for.... if you want good pics don't cheap out (now, finding a hot deal on a name-brand camera is another thing altogether, if you find a Sony, Nikon, Canon at such a great price jump on it.) I haven't used a Mustek camera personally but being a former reseller of their products I would never, ever deal with them again... their tech support is non-existant and they are unwilling to work with you... you'd think a reseller would have a bit more leverage than an end user, but still no help. Hard to believe they're still in business.

MP means image size. It doesnt mean image quality. Obviously, the higher the rez, the better the picture is SUPPOSED to be, but if the camera is a cheap POS then the lens will cuase bluriness, the CCD may be low quality, and you basically end up with a lower REZ anyway.

Plus, one of the most over-looked features of all cameras is its color handling. If the camera doesnt handle color well, you will get a bunch of washed out pictures.


Im a big fan of deals, but when it comes to cameras you get what you pay for. If you want quality (and even if you think you can justify to yourself the bucks vs quality is worth the buy, you will regret it after a few pictures and leave the thing on the shelf) you should really stick to the better brands.

I watched pcmag's ratings on cams for a few months and bought the fujifilm 3800, it absolutely rox!! Easy to use and spectacluar photos!!!
