I remember a similar post for this product from this company where someone mentioned that they had two models. One had a Via chipset and the other had an NED chipset. The advice was to go with the NEC one.

If only this included Firewire.

To sum up the article, VIA VT5202 is consistently the poorest performer of the 3 chips reviewed.

Sometimes scoring 20 (MB/S, AFAIR), vs about 30 for the Intel ICH5 chip.

The VIA VT6212 was much closer to the Intel ICH5, but was still falling consistently short?

I was just responding to the post in which a comparison to integrated Intel USB 2.0 was made...

It doesn't hurt to know what to expect from add-on cards.
