VIA has a new, better performing USB 2.0 chipset - the VT6212. This is probably VT6202, but it'd be cool if it were the VT6212.

Is this a VIA chipset. I can't get that damn VIA USB card I have to work with my MB. No matter what I can't use my portable HD at 2.0 speeds. Works on a nother computer so I know it's the card.

If you search on pricewatch, there are a quite a few online stores (the majority of them seemingly based in Walnut, CA) that carry 3-4 port USB 2.0 PCI Cards (based on either VIA or ALi chipset) for $7-10 shipped. All that's left to do is find a card you like and check resellerratings to make sure the store is OK.

Postmarked 3/19 - Friday.
Received 2 on 3/23 - Tuesday - USPS California to Massachusetts, First Class.
Installed both on WinXP systems.
5 minute jobs.
Power down, open case, plug in card, close case, power up.
WinXP notes and installs, like, 5 or 6 new "devices" USB / USB roots.
Now I'm ready for USB 2.0 widgets!

Exactly what I was looking for. Mucho thanks. I'm not going to use mine much, so I doubt that that will make much of a differance to me. But if someone is going to use an external hard drive with this card, its probably worth it to try and get the better chip. So far it looks like a mixed bag for this card/vendor, I got the 02 and someone else got the 12.
