4 day work week

Ehh, I have lots of meetings to go to, but one days every week could easily be delegated to another person. It would be a lot easier to work from home 1 or even 2 days per week and then conference in to the meetings and develop code on my own PC.

That said, In previous positions I held in this company, I had a Sunday-Wednesday schedule for several years that I LOVED, but the department I'm in currently doesn't offer that opportunity. I also had a 7 on / 7 off schedule (on site for 11.5 hours overnights, 6pm to 5:30am.) It messed with my sleep schedule quite a bit, and the days were too long, but it wasn't really all that bad. Something a 4 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 4 days off would be ideal IMO. 3 day weekends are great, but 4 days are even better.

Our company allows us to work from home once a week so technically we are doign a 4 a week, commute-wise.

I work for the school system so we could do it during the summer but I don't see any way we could do that from September-June.

I have a government job, but we don't have 4 day work weeks but I can elect to work from home for a day thats just about as nice.

Only if I was allowed to come in early. I like getting off at 3:30. I would rather they allow us to work from home one day a week. There is nothing I can't do from home as long as I have someone in the server room that can push a power button in occasionally. Except where I work if it applies to me it has to apply to everyone and about 75% of the people would abuse the privilege.

This is my 1st week working 4x10. So far it isn't bad... and starting Friday I have a 4 day weekend to look forward to.

I work for CPS in a small county in PA, it looks like they are going to give us this option. The office has to be open 5 days a week so you will get the option of Friday or Monday off. We would work 8-5:15 with a 1/2 hour lunch. We work a 35 hour week as it is. Seniority will determine who gets what day off, we have maintain coverage by certified staff to handle abuses, and when we are on call we will have to work a standard week.

I get every other Friday off (4x9 hr days, one Fri is 8 hrs). It's nice to have that long weekend every other week.

I'm on a 4/3 work week. There's talk about going to 12hr days - four on, four off. That would be most excellent.

However, my commute is 3,194 miles each way. (I live in Seattle, my current consulting project is in Maine.)

If I fiddle with my schedule just so I can get literally a week off(5 days) every other week and still be considered full time.

I work for the Fed govt and we have option of 10 8's, 8 10's, or 8 9's and 1 8(in a 2 week pay period), but of course add 1/2 hr on for lunch per shift. I have worked 10 hour days since 1996 and love it. Before that I worked nights on 10's and that was even better, it is so nice to get all kinds of things while "most" people are working.

we just did that, yesterday was my first day to work from home. so every wed i will be sitting at my desk at home working help desk tickets.

Worked 4/10 for 9 years straight. For the last 4 years I have worked it during the spring/summer/fall.
5/8s in the winter. 8 hours days go by FAST.
