Hehe....thanks for the laugh ............

I am glad that everyone else feels the same way I do.....personally if I had a single dead pixel happen outside the return policy I wouldn't stress over it as I'm aware it's one of the drawbacks to LCD's but when you get one right oughtta the box that's just Sony not having good QC.

That's why you shouldn't buy things when they first come out.
As time goes on, yields improve, and there are less defects. For such a small screen, I would not accept any dead and especially stuck pixels. I guess 1 dead pixel per 100 square inches is what I would find acceptable.

I've never seen a dead pixel on any of my own LCD monitors before. Maybe because I don't poke the screen like everybody else who complains about dead pixels.

If Sony ships a PSP with that many dead pixels on a tiny screen, then yeah, they have bad QC.
The question is did it slip through QC, or does Sony find it acceptable to have 4 dead pixels on the screen.

That is basically it.

The PSP sells at a LOSS so I can't imagine them 'bothering' to have as strict QC as they do on say their 23" LCD's or products that DO make a PROFIT for them...

I've got a bunch of Sony stuff and they have all lasted very well.

My pixels are all ok. I got the EB games warranty though, and I specifically asked him if they would replace for dead pixels. He said yes, they will replace it no matter what happens, even if you drop it and its completely your fault, they will still replace.

You, I had never seen a dead pixel either so I thought people who kept complaining of such were nitpicking.
Until I got the Dell 2005fpw and it had a big ole dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
Mind you that this is a 20" inch screen.
When I had stuff running, it didn't bother me but it stands out like a big ZIT on a black screen.

So I can't imagine a small screen like the PSP having a dead pixel.
If I even have one, it would bother the crap out of me.
5....thats a no brainer return. Yeah, I would considered 5 dead pixels DEFECTIVE.

I would read the fine print to make sure...that sounds fishy and he probably makes some sort of com. off of the warranty sale.

Who the fvck are the 5 people that voted "wouldn't return it period....dead pixels are part of the manufacturing process live with it" ???

You're telling me you just spent $250+ on a PSP and there are 5+ dead pixels on the screen and you wouldn't return it ??
I'd like to see that.
5+ dead pixels on a small screen like the PSP ?? Thats like a decorated christmas tree.

There are people on Sony's forums with 10 to 15 bad pixels.

I don't know what Sony's QC is shooting for, but 4 pixels is about 5.5 sigma. 6 sigma would be .5 pixels per unit.

Why do cell phone providers give away cell phones?

Sony makes their money off licensing fees they charge game developers/publishers.
Irc MS took a loss of 50 bucks per console when the xbox first came out. Gilette uses a similar business model, they will give you a razor handle for free and make cash off razor replacements.

I worked today from 10am to 2pm at Gamestop. We had three PSPs returned with dead pixles, and I was messing around with one and it locked up trying to open a menu.

still a damn sexy system if you ask me. A game system, portable movie player, mp3 player, and photo viewer for $250 isn't really that bad when you get to try the thing out.

I may have to pick one up when I have money and Sony has worked more of the bugs out of it.
