I didn't see the vid in the Op (private) but I did see several others on Youtube. Here's my take on it. We've got a huge disparity of wealth and we're constantly throwing it in the faces of the people who can't afford things. Since we have a very extreme wealth gap I expect that we'll see even more of this sort of thing.
This has nothing to do with race. It has to do with making it public policy to keep people in a constant sense of deprivation and hopelessness.

Seems to me that a person would have to be in a pretty desperate situation to have to risk the legal ramifications of robbing a convenience store (in broad daylight) for a red bull and a bag of chips. Especially with the trend of owners arming themselves.
These are not desperate folks starving to death, they've got smartphones with web access to organize this activity, this is just thievery plain and simple, if a few of 'em got thumped with a bat I would laugh my ass off..
