40"+ TV w/o gaming lag

Last year I had my 61" DLP and 42" LCD TVs stolen. Now that I'm buying my first home and moving to a nicer area, I'm once again willing to buy an expensive TV. Do any current gen TVs exist that have no discernible lag when compared to CRT TVs? My 61" DLP was a decent enough TV but it had noticeable lag; and the 42" LCD was worthless for gaming. I have gamed on a variety of other plasma, LCD, and DLP TVs and have yet to find one that compares to a good old CRT in terms of lag. I'd like to hear that they exist, but I'd really like to hear that they exist in my price range. I can't see spending more than about $2000 on this TV and I was hoping for a nice large one (I was quite happy with my 61" TV in terms of size, but I'm willing to settle for 40"+).

Plasma shouldn't have lag as that is almost as good as CRT in response time. Make sure that if you use a LCD you look for a gaming mode in the menus. That can help quite a bit by turning off post processing of the video with things like noise reduction that add lag to the output.

Plasma is going to be your friend. I saw lots of motion blur on even high end LCDs, including a top of the line 120Mhz 52" Samsung.

Switched to 1080p plasma and found it to be the best option for watching fast motion high def movies, sports and playing both console and PC games.

The best value for the money really changes weekly but both Samsung and Panasonic 1080p plasmas are going to be terrific.

Plasma will be your best bet. Other than that your other good choice is an SXRD panel. A Sony A2000, A3000, or XBR TV might be a good option to look at in the 50" range.

Do the Amazon warehouse products still carry the full warranty and the normal Amazon return policy?

Thanks guys. It sounds like plasma is the way to go. I think my first step will be to try to hit the local Best Buy to get some visuals and to see if they'll let me hook up a game system to their plasma display models.

My experience with Plasma and games was horrible. My set was an older one from 2004, but unless they have vastly improved, you will be disappointed. The ghosting is WORSE than an LCD, especially for high contrast areas. Also text is hard to read, and you will always have to worry about HUD's burning into the screen. I found most games to be completely unplayable on it.

My LCD projector on the other hand, specifically has a high-speed mode which disables some processing to minimize input lag. And since the panel itself is so small and just projected to a large screen, there isn't any motion blur.
