That's a typo, it has 440Nm of torque not 440ft/lbs, it actually has 325ft/lbs of torque.

Yes but my 3.8L V6 has about half that power. But even at that I think it makes for an ok fun every day vehicle(01 buick regal).

Add DOHC, VVT, and Direct Injection, and 2K more revs, and you'll be close...


And yes, it's not 440 torque, or even close.

Sure, but I would bet that the 2012 Porsche is in fact getting better highway mileage than the 11 year old Buick.

That Porsche averaged 18mpg while C&D was testing it, which is amazing.

I've hand calculated my 11 year old buick getting 28 mpg. Of course I had to drive it like a grandpa(ironic?) to get those numbers. I've never gotten lower than 22 mpg out of it, that is carrying 3 adults and about 130 pounds in the trunk going 80 up mountains.

I'd still pick the M/T.

I would also pick the manual. Partly for the feel of it, and partly so fewer people would ask to drive it.

In reading the link, seems as if the faster acceleration was mostly from launch control, which gave it a 0.4s lead from launch, then added 0.2s for the 1-2 shift.
